This page of the Assassin's Creed: Valhalla game guide describes how to acquire crafting materials. It provides information on various types of materials used for, among others, improving equipment or constructing new buildings in the settlement.
- Leather
- Iron ore
- Fabric / Titanium Ingot / Opal
- Carbon Ingot / Nickel / Tungsten Ingot
- Supplies / Raw materials
- Silver
Leather
This material can be obtained most easily by killing animals and interacting with their corpses to skin them. The important news, in this case, is that you do not have to hunt only wild animals. You can also get leather by killing farm animals such as sheep or pigs. The advantage of this method is that you will not be attacked by them.
Other ways to obtain leather are to find them together with another loot (e.g. in chests) and buying them from vendors.
Iron ore
This material can be most easily obtained by destroying obsidian stones found in the game world. An example of an obsidian stone is shown in the above screenshot. Destroying the stone does not automatically yield raw materials - press the interaction key to collect them from the ground.
Other ways to obtain iron ore include finding it together with another loot (e.g. in chests) and buying them from vendors.
Fabric / Titanium Ingot / Opal
These are rare variations of materials that you can simply find through the exploration of the game world. Remember to use Odin's Sight to locate interactive objects within your surroundings.
Another way to obtain fabrics and titanium ingots is to buy them from merchants. They do not appear in the merchants' offer at the very beginning of the game. You must make enough progress in the game, i.e. reach regions with higher suggested power levels.
You can also obtain opal and titanium ingots in a different way – receive them as a reward for performing the tasks of the Thousand Eyes guild. You have to wait until Reda appears in the Ravensthorpe – you will get random and time-limited contracts from him. More information about this mechanic can be found on the Daily quests page.
Carbon Ingot / Nickel / Tungsten Ingot
The easiest way to obtain this material is to find yellow ingot icons on the map. They can hide behind the yellow dots and symbolize a chest with an ingot or an opponent carrying one (his corpse must be looted after he's dead).
Alternatively, you can acquire ingots by completing hunting challenges from the hunting hut in the settlement.
Supplies / Raw materials
Both are used to finance improvements in the Viking settlement. The easiest way to get them is to complete raids on abbeys symbolized on the world map by icons of crossed axes. During the raid, look for the large crates that Eivor must open with the support of another Viking.
You can also find supplies and raw materials in smaller quantities together with another loot while freely exploring the game world.
Silver
Silver is not a crafting material, but the main currency in the game, which is used for all kinds of purchases. Silver can be obtained in many ways:
- Together with another loot.
- As a reward for completing quests and events.
- Received for selling unnecessary stuff to traders.
- Received when other players use your Jomsvikings (barracks in Ravensthorpe).
