The Symphony of the Forge - main quest | Stone Sea Tyranny Guide
Last update: 27 December 2016
Take on the quest
This quest is a main story mission and is available only if you allied yourself with the Scarlet Chorus during the Assault of the Citadel. After the talks with Tunon in The Voice of Kyros quest, you will be sent to Cacophony-the Chorus' camp where Voices of Nerat resides. Talk to him. You can choose only one quest depending on where you want to go. This quest is connected to Lethian's Crossing. After the conversation, head there.
Entrance to the Oldwalls
In Lethian's Crossing, talk with Harchiand Bronze first. Then, head to the Forge (M11,5). After a short conversation with Zdenya, go the entrance to the Oldwalls (M11,9). Once the short ritual has concluded, you will receive a key that allows you to go inside.
While talking to Zdenya, it is worth it to choose the second or the third dialogue option (concerning the risks and financial issues) which earns you 1100 rings. Choosing one of the last two options gives you Favor with Lethian's Crossing.
In the next stage, enter the Oldwalls. Inside, you will be attacked by four of the Bane, but winning the fight is but a formality. Afterwards, go outside to find out that the Bronze Brotherhood has attacked the village. You will face a dilemma and every option results in Minor Wrath with the Bronze Brotherhood:
- Assist the Chorus in combat;
- The remaining two options have you betray the alliance-you will no longer be able to cooperate with the Scarlet Chorus.
Attack on the Crossing
If you help the Scarlet Chorus to fight off the invaders, you have to eliminate all hostile forces (marked on the map) on both sides of the river. Allies from the Chorus will be helping you out. After the fight, go to see Tier Smasher. When you stop talking, you will see Raetommon who is running away with a valuable helmet that you have to reclaim. Chase him to the south (near the M11,9 spot) where you will fight four of his soldiers. Alas, he will get away anyway.
Now go back to Eldian, the village's mayor (M11,8). After a short conversation, talk to Harchiand Bronze. From him, you will learn about the next location you have to head to-Deserter's March.
On the hunt
In Deserter's March (M17), you will meet two men: Locke and Myrek. After talking to them, you find out that Myrek is sided with Raetommon, so you have to kill him even if you're not the first to strike. If you didn't attack Locke as well, he will assist you in combat, unless you attack Myrek with the use of Athletics in the conversation. To find another clue, search Myrek's body. By picking up the key on it, you will unlock Twin Rivers.
In this location, you will also find a woman named Kalea who gives you a side quest: Blind Ambition.
Twin Rivers and the second visit to the Oldwalls
What's interesting, in Twin Rivers (M18), there is an ongoing battle. You will be approached by Brother Caelus of the Bronze Brotherhood who asks for help in repelling an attack of the Bane. If you agree right away, you gain Minor Favor with the Brotherhood. Then, you can simply watch the battle from afar. To move forward, you have to cross the ford (M18,1) which requires you to have 47 ranks in Athletics.
If you go to the east of the Oldwalls entrance, you will meet Welby of the Brotherhood who also fights the Bane. If you help her and then talk to her, you will additionally gain Moderate Favor of the Brotherhood.
Time to enter the Oldwalls (M18,2). Upon entrance, you will be approached by several members of the Brotherhood. Flatfoot Ferris is a soldier of Raetommon and won't be willing to let you pass, but if you have Subterfuge 49, you can take the torchkey, which allows you to go deeper into the Oldwalls without fighting, from him. If you have Lantry in your party, he will join the conversation, and if you let him speak, he'll convince Flatfoot to give you the key. Keep in mind that if you start fighting now, you will have to defeat other members of the Brotherhood in the Oldwalls.
The Torchkey has to be placed in the shining lantern (M35,1), which is the pedestal with a white sign floating above it. Then, press the plates on the floor in front of the door. To get to the next chamber (M35,3), take the stairs twice, up to the highest point, and press the plate on the floor to extend a bridge. Cross it and head to the end of the corridor. You can also use the Torchkey to open the remaining doors but keep in mind that you will have to fight the Bane and disarm traps.
In the second part of the labyrinth (M36,1), place Amith Torchkey in the lantern and press the button on the floor, then search the body in the room to find Citren Torchkey. Walk through the open door, defeat the Bane and the Brotherhood warriors (you can't skip this fight so you can let the combatants hurt one another a little before you join in). Then, open the next door with Citren Torchkey.
Behind the bridge at the end of the corridor, you will fight several more forms of the Bane. Once victorious, search the nearby body to find Rho Torchkey-it will let you open the next door.
The last camber features a puzzle in which you have to activate three lanterns with different keys: use Citren Torchkey on the left, Rho Torchkey in the middle, and Amith Torchkey on the right. Heading to the last room, you will face Raetommon and his sidekick. It isn't an easy fight. Try to eliminate the latter first. Ultimately, you can spare the former or force him to stand before Voices of Nerat. At this stage, it makes no difference.
The main fight is not over yet, though. You have to place four keys (you receive the last one from Raetommon) in the lanterns: Rho Torchkey on the left, Emir Torchkey on the bottom, Citren Torchkey on the top, and Amith Torchkey on the right. Once you activate three lanterns, a powerful Bane, Havoc, appears. It is worth it to set up camp and rest before this battle. In the early stages of the fight, try to stay away from Havoc since it uses area-of-effect attacks in close quarters. Meanwhile, deal with the lesser forms of the Bane. When they are severely wounded, the Havoc absorbs them to heal itself so don't attack it right away.
After the fight, go to the upper part of the room where you find Zdenya (M37,4). Don't kill her, even though you can, because it is an irreversible decision to betray alliance with the Scarlet Chorus. In the chest behind her, you can find Tempest. Finally, report back to Eldian and either give him back the stolen Magebane Helm or keep it for yourself. It is really valuable of an artifact that makes fighting the Bane easier because it unlocks a special talent: Arcane Unravelling.
Now, go back to the Archon. For completing the quest, you will receive Amulet of Double Protection.
