Final Judgment - main quest | Vendrien's Well Tyranny Guide
Last update: 20 December 2016
This chapter contains a complete description of gameplay connected to the Final Judgment quest. Here, you will find a walkthrough for the main storyline missions which will let you complete the said quest as profitably as possible.
Individual topics are described in their respective sections.
Emissary's visit
The quest appears in the journal at the beginning of Act III. On the top of Mountain Spire, a messenger of Tunon will appear and inform you of the Archon of Justice's intentions. You have to appear at the Tunon's Court as quickly as possible. There, you will have to present evidence against one of the Archons.
At the same time, you will receive a letter from Bleden Mark who informs you that you will probably die by his hand. If you acted in accordance with his will and managed to secure his Favor thus far, it is enough to reply kindly to it since you don't have to worry about your fate. If your relations are characterized by significant Wrath, though, you should propose a meeting in Ashweald where you can duel him.
Regardless, you will still have to appear at Tunon's Court.
A trial of Archons
When you reach the Court, you see representatives of the Scarlet Chorus and the Disfavored gathered there. Approach Tunon to move the quest forward. In the conversation, you have to explain why you decided to support the Archon of your choosing. Ultimately, you will have to point which one is guilty of the Overlord's Army's failures in the Tiers.
The choice of the Archon is key for this quest and the further course of the story. The hearing itself is trivial. You will be informed of the accusations you can make, then you make them and present evidence gathered in a given case. There is no chance for any piece of evidence to be rejected or turned against you.
Ultimately, the Archon you decided to incriminate is sentenced to death, and Tunon summons Bleden Mark to give him orders. This is when you can ask Tunon to let you carry out the sentence personally.
Before you leave the Court, you have to decide the fate of the sentenced leader's faction representative. You can either sentence him to death or demote and enslave him. The choice doesn't have a meaningful significance to the game's plot and the course of the quest.
Carry out the sentence
The further stage of the mission leads to the sentenced Archon's headquarters. Your task is to announce Tunon's judgment to the Archon and carry it out.
The journey to Archons' headquarters is connected to the progress of the Call to Arms quest, which should now be active in the journal. Therefore, before you head to the sentenced Archon's headquarters, meet with his opponent from the times of the civil war.
Ultimately, the quest takes you to the headquarters of the Archon who was sentenced. As you might guess, the Archon won't go willingly. There is a tough fight ahead of you, but in the end, the Archon is defeated.
Once it is so, report back to Tunon for further instructions.
Tunon
When you're back in Tunon's Court, head directly to the Archon of Justice. It turns out that despite all the activities you've performed thus far, you have to defend yourself from death as punishment for violations of the Overlord's laws.
Tunon will ask your Companions to speak in your defense. Depending on the Reputation indicator of each one of them, their opinions will be different but won't incriminate you. Everything boils down to the dialogue in which you have to refute the following accusations:
1. During the Conquest, you took a bribe for providing iron weapons to one of the Archons (if you did).
- Declare that you had to get the Archons' trust somehow.
2. You entered the Oldwalls.
- Reply that entering the ruins was necessary due to your missions.
3. You took the Silent Archive (if you have it).
- You can say that your orders had you use all available means.
- Reply that thanks to this, the forbidden knowledge is safe (Subterfuge 52 required).
4. You are responsible for the outbreak of the civil war.
- Suggest that the Archons joined the Conquest to make their piles.
If you don't use dialogue lines that could speak directly against the Overlord during the interrogation, you will be found innocent in the end. You can also attack the Archon during the interrogation. If you don't do this and are cleared of all charges, Tunon will refer to your power and swear his fealty to you if you agree to have him as a servant. The decision is entirely yours to make and is not too binding.
Eventually, the Archon of Shadows appears in the court and will make his own judgment of your case.
Bleden Mark
If you haven't managed to obtain high Favor factor with the Archon of Shadows, he will only inform you that the Overlord sentenced you to death and he intends to carry out his judgment. Regardless of your dialogue choices, a tough fight will occur. The Archon summons shadows that let him regenerate hit points. Moreover, he is very durable in his own right. In the end, you should be able to defeat him with no problem given your numerical superiority.
Bleden Mark dies, and all there is left to do is to accept the oath of fealty from Tunon. The quest is thus concluded.
