The following list includes all the Spires and their locations. The list includes the order in which you can capture the Spires. Patterns of Runic Halls can be found in chapters devoted to Seats of Power and Puzzles.
1. Vendrien's Well - The Mountain Spire
2. Lethian's Crossing - The Sunset Spire
3. Blade Grave - The Ocean Spire
4. Stone Sea - The Dawning Spire
5. Stone Sea - The Aurora Spire
Building and maintaining upgrades
Building upgrades is not very expensive if you try to collect all the items that you come across. Just keep in mind that for each upgrade there a certain amount of rings that you must pay regularly to keep the upgrade. It's an important aspect of travelling across the Tiers. Once you obtain all five Spires, the cost will decrease as you will travel via Spire portals, and thus make you travel faster.
Recruits
Once you have the upgrade, you will be provided with a list of recruits that are related to a given upgrade. Each character has been described, so you can find out more about the advantages of hiring certain recruits. The list of available characters surpasses the limit of available positions but you can always fire a certain mercenary if you need to replace him with a different one. Changes will take place when you leave a Spire and come back. Hiring a worker requires one-time payment which depends on his usefulness.
Using the upgrades
Each upgrade has unique properties that can be used during the gameplay. There are different schemes and projects scattered around many locations which can lead to crafting rare weapons, spells or potions. Each upgrade is managed by its keeper and this is the person you should address when willing to implement new projects. Keep in mind that you will come across pieces of scripts, broken armor etc. you can ask keepers about these items in order to recreate the full project.
When should you build upgrades?
The sooner, the better. Upgrades are only useful when your team gains experience and only then the workers will be able to craft selected projects. Furthermore, recruits will gather components that can be used to conduct projects. Once you capture Sunset Spire you must choose the upgrade that is key for your protagonist and build it right away.
