Oddworld Soulstorm: Badges (challenges), Eye of the Storm - list, walkthrough Oddworld Soulstorm guide, walkthrough
Last update: 18 May 2021
This page of the Oddworld Soulstorm guide contains descriptions of Badges from the final Level 17 - Eye of the Storm. These are different challenges for locating secrets, using Brewnade or helping Mudokons. Our guide will help you earn all the platinum badges in Mission 17.
Additional notes: if we do not pass the requirements of the challenge a 100%, then we can still receive a badge of a lower rank, for example, a gold or a silver one. The game allows you to repeat the completed stages in order to obtain the missed badges.
How to unlock mission 17?
Level 17 is one of two additional levels. It will unlock only if you have met the requirements to unlock a good ending. Specifically, we need to:
Make sure that less than a total of 1000 Mudokons are killed in Levels 1-15 - you need to save as many Mudokons as possible in subsequent missions, especially in Levels 8 and 13 where you have to protect hundreds of fleeing allies.
Ensure that at least 13 of the 15 levels are completed with a positive Quarma. The point here is to save at least 80% of Mudokons in a given level (e.g. 80 Mudokons if there is a total of 100 Mudokons on the map).
Important note - if you've completed more than 2 levels with a negative Quarma, you don't have to start the campaign again. The levels where we didn't get positive quarma can be repeated and we can try again to save at least 80% of Mudokons.
Explorer
Platinum badge requirements: Find 5 Secret Areas
Badge description: One of the challenges associated with secrets/collectibles. The game always informs us about finding a secret area. We have included them in our walkthrough for mission 17 - they are marked in green.
Saviour
Platinum badge requirements: Save 45 Mudokons.
Badge description: this challenge is not particularly difficult since it does not force you to save 100% of the Mudokons from the final mission. In the described level, we can come across 50 Mudokons and this means that 5 of them do not necessarily have to survive and reach the bird portal.
One difficulty is that the two groups of Mudokons are not only located in optional locations, but they are also behind closed Moolah Gates. Try to have about 100 Moolah in stock and spend more time looking for cash and empty bottles to be recycled.
Hidden Help
Platinum badge requirements: Find 12 Royal Jelly secrets.
Badge description: One of the challenges associated with secrets/collectibles. Royal Jelly is a levitating object that you can collect to lengthen Abe's health bar.
At first, it may seem that 12 collectibles is a lot, but several of these are completely effortless because you'll find them while solving the riddle of avoiding the big eye. Royal Jelly locations are included in our walkthrough of mission 17 - they are marked in green.
Brewnade
Platinum badge requirements: 14 Sligs were hit with Brewnade bottles.
Badge description: this badge can be quite problematic because Brewnade can be very useful to Abe in the final battle and, as a result, it is a good idea to stack them up in the inventory instead of using them up on an ongoing basis. If you want to earn a platinum challenge, be aware that you'll have to rely on other gadgets in the final battle. Of course, remember to explore the maps very carefully in order to find and buy as many ingredients as possible for producing Brewnades.
Keymaster
Platinum badge requirements: Open 11 lockers.
Badge description: this badge can be more or less demanding depending on how many unique keys we acquired during the entire campaign. If we are able to open all the lockers on our way, then we should earn the platinum challenge approximately after finding and opening three rows of padlocked lockers.
Slig Apprehender
Platinum badge requirements: Capture 19 Sligs.
Badge description: in this level, we can find large amounts of tape and use it manually on stunned enemies or use the tape to produce Bouncy Binding Candy (they allow you to bind hit Sligs automatically). Try to keep track of encountered Sligs instead of looking for a way to bypass them or kill them (unless we are striving for the Brewnade badge at the same time).
