Oddworld Soulstorm: Badges (challenges), Slig Barracks - list, walkthrough Oddworld Soulstorm guide, walkthrough
Last update: 16 April 2021
This page of the Oddworld Soulstorm guide contains descriptions of Badges from Level 9 - Slig Barracks. These are different challenges for locating collectibles, crafting items, rescuing Mudokons or spending Moolah cash. Our guide will help you earn all the platinum badges in Mission 9.
Additional notes: if we do not pass the requirements of the challenge 100%, then we can still receive a badge of a lower rank, for example, a gold or a silver one. The game allows you to repeat the completed stages in order to obtain the missed badges.
Explorer
Platinum badge requirements: Find 4 Secret Areas.
Badge description: One of the challenges associated with secrets/collectibles. The game always informs about finding a secret area. We have included them in the walkthrough of Level 9 - they are marked in green.
Wrecker
Platinum badge requirements: Destroy 20 objects
Badge description: All kinds of crates can be destroyed. You'll destroy a few of them while blowing up passages in order to advance in the game, but you'll still have to look for some of them yourself. Let's try to examine all visited locations carefully. Crates can be, for example, at the end of a corridor or on some higher shelf.
Crafter
Platinum badge requirements: Craft 80 items.
Badge description: this challenge is much simpler than it might seem. This is because we can slightly cheat by crafting items from free and unlimited crafting ingredients.
At the beginning of the level, we will examine the Overlook Tower and there will be 2 vending machines on the top of it, as shown in the picture. You can pick up Rock Candy and Rubberbands for free.
The items listed above can be used to make Bouncy Candy. We produce the maximum number of these items, we get rid of them by throwing them down and we pick up more crafting ingredients from the machines. Go on until you produce a total of 80 objects.
Spender
Platinum badge requirements: 150 Moolah (the in-game currency) spent.
Badge description: this badge can be quite problematic there are only few vending machines that force you to make purchases with Moolah. Each time you find such a machine, buy all the items offered by it. If we have a full supply of them, then use it up, for example, by throwing objects or crafting.
Of course, we must first obtain the money: look for loot and sell empty bottles to get the needed 150 Moolah. Examine each location carefully and search the bodies of stunned Sligs.
Saviour
Platinum badge requirements: Save 45 Mudokons.
Badge description: 45 is the total number of Mudokons that appear in this level. This means we need to save all of them to unlock the platinum badge. Pay attention to two things:
- The safest method is to return with Mudokons to the bird portal from the picture, which is in the southern part of the barracks. As you make your way through other locations (e.g. when using a mobile platform in the final part of the mission), Mudokons can get killed by accident very easily.
- 8 Mudokons are located in a well-hidden secret area. We described it on the Going through the Furnace page of our guide.
Remember that if you lose one of the escorted Mudokons, you can restart the last checkpoint and retry the same section.
Hidden Help
Platinum badge requirements: Find 7 Royal Jelly secrets.
Badge description: One of the challenges associated with secrets/collectibles. Royal Jelly is a levitating object that you can collect to lengthen Abe's health bar. We have included them in our walkthrough of the 1st mission - they are marked in green.
