Oddworld: Soulstorm Description
Oddworld: Soulstorm for PC is the next game from the platform-adventure games series that was started in 1997. It was created by Oddworld Inhabitants Inc. and the studio’s internal dev teams from California and Great Britain. Soulstorm continues the story from Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, a 2013 remake of Oddworld: Abe’s Odysee, and is loosely based on Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus.
The Plot
The story in Oddworld: Soulstorm for PC is a rather dark take on the Oddworld universe and uses the same plotlines, ideas, views on consumerism and capitalism in a new way. Once again, we play as the likeable Mudokon named Abe. After the events of Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty Abe leads three hundred Mudokons, who he freed from the Glukkons’ grip. Our hero and his company are facing a dreadful situation. They have to go through a desert without any food, water, or hope. After some time, they find relief in a mysterious addicting brew.
Mechanics
Oddworld: Soulstorm for PC expands the ideas and gameplay mechanics from Oddoworld: New ‘n’ Tasty. The game is still a 2.5D platformer where we will have to tackle many puzzles and riddles. During our adventures we will have to rely not only on Abe, but also on other Mudokons we will meet.

Oddworld Series
A series of platform adventure games set on the title planet, inhabited by friendly Mudokons. The Oddworld Inhabitants development team is responsible for the creation and development of the brand, with support from Digital Dialect, Saffire and Just Add Water studios. "Godparents" of the series Oddworld are Lorne M. Lanning and Sherry McKenna. The first installment of the series - Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee - was released in 1997 in the version for PC and PlayStation console. The production was well received by adventure game fans, as evidenced by the average reviewer rating of 85/100 (according to metacritic.com). This encouraged the developers to develop the idea into a full-fledged series. The main games in the series include: Oddworld: Abe's Oddyse (1997), Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus (1998), Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee (2001) i Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath (2005). In addition, over the course of more than 23 years, the developers were also tempted by a number of ports aimed at portable consoles (e.g. Oddworld Adventures) as well as remastered versions and bundles. The most important attempt to refresh the series was the game released in 2014 Abe's Oddysee New N' Tasty. The production was a remake of the first installment from 1997. The developers managed to maintain the characteristic atmosphere of the original, while improving the mechanics, which were already a bit clumsy at the time. The most important changes were the introduction of the option to communicate with several Mudokons at the same time and the inclusion of a previously absent fast save option. The success of the production prompted the developers to develop plans for the restoration of subsequent parts. As a result, a premiere has been announced for the end of 2020 for PC, PS4 and PS5 Oddworld: Soulstorm, loosely based on the second installment of the 1998 game Abe's Exoddus. The title presents an even darker and more terrifying view of the world and is a direct sequel to New N' Tasty, both in terms of storyline and using the gameplay mechanics that were improved in it.
