On this page of the guide to Kena Bridge of Spirits you'll learn how to get through the next story mission, which requires you to head to the Forgotten Forest, meet up with Rusu and helping him cleanse the altars to open the Guardian Tree.
To reach your destination, the Forgotten Forest, you must head to the area shown on the map and open the huge passageway.
To open them, you have to shoot the gems. Start with the left one, then shoot the one that starts glowing. This will open the passage, allowing you to meet Rusu.
Go through the passage to the Forgotten Forest, where you'll find him. Talk to him to start the quest. Your objective is cleansing 4 shrines and opening the Guardian Tree. To do so, you need to check the map to find blue points and head in their direction. Cleansing each shrine requires fulfilling a different task.
Wood Shrine
As you head towards the Wood Shrine, your objective is defeating the enemies that appear here. The task is not especially difficult, but there's a lot of variety in the enemy forces. The first wave consists of land units, two ranged enemies positioned higher than you, and two flying creatures. You should deal with the ranged enemies first, then the flying ones, leaving ground units for last.
If you're having problems, remember you can find a healing item on the bottom of the arena. Use it if you can't defeat the enemies and recover your health.
On the upper floor, you'll encounter two more waves of enemies. The second wave consists mainly of shield-wielding enemies, strong attacks are advisably to break through their defenses. The third wave consists of one powerful enemy, two shield-wielders and a ranged enemy. Eliminate the ranged enemy quickly, then attack the shield-wielders, leaving the powerful foe for last. Cleanse the forest after defeating them.
Water Shrine
Water Shrine is located near the Wood Shrine, jump down to the lower level to see the altar. You need to correctly place two gems.
You'll find a gem on the left and on the right. You need to put them right where you can see the gem pieces. They're near the water, looking like they do on the picture.
After correctly placing the gems, stand on the platform. Use Pulse, then cleanse the area.
God Tree Shrine
Head to the center of this location. You'll see a blue flower you need to shoot in order to grapple to it. You need to reach the very top, then defeat the enemies.
Climb up. Use flowers and arrows to move around.
Some flowers don't lead you to the mission objective, but they're worth using nonetheless. For example, the flower to the left shown on this picture will lead you to an item you can give to the residents.
Nevertheless, you should head to the place you can spot a platform from. Shoot the crystal to reach the other side.
You should be on the very top of the area. You'll encounter a new ranged enemy. If you see a purple spike piercing the ground, move far away from it as soon as you can. The spike explodes after a moment, dealing heavy damage. The explosion's AoE is large, so you need to be far away. Make use of the blue flowers on the left and in front of you.
Other than the new enemies, you'll be also attacked by regular foes. Eliminate them as quickly as possible, moving constantly. You should primarily use a bow here, only switching to melee if you run out of arrows.
Once you're done, cleanse the area. To the right of Rus you'll find some Rot, which is worth picking up to increase your level.
Fishing Shrine
Your final task is activating the crystals in the correct order. The order is indicated by candles. After shooting a crystal, one or more candles will be lit. The number of candles indicates the order you should shoot the crystals in. If you do so in the wrong order, two flying enemies will appear.
To avoid fighting them, move towards the candles. Then shoot the crystal behind the altar, the one shown on the picture. Turn around. The second crystal you must shoot stands opposite to the first one.
After shooting the second crystal, point the camera to the left and shoot the third one. Finally, shoot the crystal near the river. If you're having problems, carefully watch the candles. Cleanse the area once you're done.
Guardian Tree
After completing all tasks, head to the main mission marker. All four torches should be lit, allowing you to open the passageway.
Stand on the platform and then use Pulse. Keep in mind, however, that once you do so you'll be attacked by a boss, the Sprout Captain. The description of the boss fight is on a separate page of the guide.
After defeating the boss, enter the room and cleanse the area. After a short cutscene, you'll receive Food Offering. This concludes the Taro's Love quest.
