This page of the Kena Bridge of Spirits game guide explains how to easily and quickly defeat Corrupt Toshi, the next boss in the game. You will encounter him after completing the Free Toshi main mission. The fight will start once you reach the Village Leader Hall inside the mountain.
Corrupt Toshi is a very difficult opponent. His most notable ability is to deflect all ranged attacks aimed at him. As such, we don't recommend using your bow or bombs against him, since all of these attacks will be reflected. There's a high chance that these attacks will damage you.
However, this doesn't mean that you cannot use the bow or bombs at all. You can throw bombs at the locations where Corrupt Toshi is headed. They don't deal a lot of damage, but it's a good way to hurt him a bit.
When it comes to the bow, you only need to use it when Corrupt Toshi is about to perform one of his stronger attacks. At that point, he won't be able to deflect ranged attacks. Also, it's best to aim at his mask then, especially when it's glowing. This will lead to the boss becoming stunned.
One of Corrupt Toshi's attacks involves raising his staff and then striking the ground with it, which creates a barrier that will surround the entire arena.
The only solution is to Dash. This might even damage him, if you are close enough. Additionally, you will avoid taking damage this way.
The most dangerous is his series of attacks, which he does very often whenever he gets close to you. He starts by cutting with his sword. After a moment, he brandishes a staff that produces fire. After a moment's pause, he will attack twice with his staff, summoning fire, and finally he will strike at the ground, producing a wave of fire under your feet.
You have three ways out of this situation. You can either parry his attack combo, Dash to interrupt it or evade at the right moment. If you opt for the third option, make sure to jump when the boss attacks for the fifth time to avoid taking damage from the wave of fire.
When Corrupt Toshi disappears, leaving behind a flame, he will reappear in the air and, after a moment of preparation, he will launch a series of projectiles that will trail after you. When you notice that his mask, or rather his eyes, begin to glow purple, slow down time and shoot him in the eyes. This will interrupt his attack, the projectiles will explode, and he will fall to the ground, giving you plenty of time to deal a lot of damage to him.
The less health Corrupt Toshi has, the more his attacks will change. After disappearing and leaving the flame in his place, the boss can again teleport and appear in the air. This time, however, the attack will work differently. If you notice that the boss is creating a purple spear and pointing it at the ground, that means he will create a wave of ice.
To avoid this attack, you need to jump as soon as it appears. Then, while in the air, aim a charged attack at the boss's head and if you don't do this quickly enough, he will start creating large flowers growing out of the ground that will push you away and deal damage. By shooting him in the head, you will stun him again, giving you an opportunity to deal damage to him.
Corrupt Toshi can also use his bow while on the ground. Remember not to get too close to Corrupt Toshi, as he will create a small explosion around himself after launching the projectile. When the explosion appears, it's the right moment to dodge. A moment after the explosion, the arrow will attack you and cause an explosion on impact.
The most important thing to do when fighting Corrupt Toshi is to be very aggressive and keep attacking him. By doing so, you will provoke him to block your attacks. After the fifth blocked hit, he will follow up with an attack that is easy to dodge. This will allow you to walk up to his back and continue to attack.
Remember, however, that Corrupt Toshi, instead of the standard 5-hit combo, can also attack you with a 3-hit combo. The first two strikes are easy to dodge, while the third, finishing attack is different from the others, as it will produce a laser projectile in a straight line. You can either evade this attack normally or Dash. Also, keep in mind that you can find healing items to the left and right of the arena.
