Ironhaven Crates are important resources in The Iron Rig DLC for Dredge. Our guide explains where to look for crates, how to produce your own crates and the most important uses for Ironhaven Crates.
Finding crates
- You will learn about the Ironhaven Crates at the very beginning of the DLC, i.e. after reaching the Iron Rig and unlocking the Getting Power mission after talking to the Foreman. There are 2 ways you can obtain them.
- The first method is to find floating crates in the game world. From the moment you visit the rig, oil rig icons will appear on the world map (example in the screenshot) - these are places where you can look for the crates.
- After reaching a particular location, you will find 1 or 2 places to fish out crates (example in the screenshot).
- You must complete loot fishing mini-games. You can obtain 1 or more crates in a single fishing spot. Each crate requires a 2x2 free slot in the Cargo tab.
How to craft Ironhaven Crates?
- After completing the Getting Power Pursuit, you will unlock the option to place new buildings on the rig. One of them is the Forge, which allows you to craft Ironhaven Crates.
- You must first build a tier 1 Forge and this requires 1 Ironhaven Crates - use one of the crates you fished out earlier.
To produce 1 Ironhaven Crate, you need:
- 1x Metal Scraps;
- 1x Bolt of Cloth;
- 1x Lumber.
You can fish out all of the above materials by visiting specific fishing spots (Dredge).
The most important uses for Ironhaven Crates
- We advise you to plan using your Ironhaven Crates in advance, as they are found in limited quantities and crafting them requires spending extra time searching for the right ingredients.
- Spend the crates primarily on new buildings on the oil rig- constructing new facilities (tier 1) or expanding existing ones (tier 2 and higher). This will give you access to new functionalities related to the Iron Rig.
- Occasionally, crates are needed to craft story items, which include the Siphon Trawler. These should your priority as well.
- Only after you've taken care of all the major things should you start allocating Ironhaven Crates to individual smaller projects, like boat upgrades or new types of fishing rods.
