This page of the guide features a walkthrough of the Figure in Purple quest. This mysterious character will ask you to deliver them two species of fish and a crab. Below you'll find the location of the Purple Hooded Figure and the specific fishing spots.
Warning! This quest has a time limit of a few days - the game does not let you know about it. We suggest only accepting the quest if you want to take care of it immediately. If you take too long to return to the Purple Hooded Figure, they'll die, and you won't get any sort of reward.

Unlocking the quest - talking to the Purple Hooded Figure
You'll find the Purple Hooded Figure on an small island, south of the main islands in Twisted Strand. Swim closer and interact with them - press F (PC), X (PS) or A (Xbox). You'll be tasked with catching and delivering a total of two fish species and a single crab.
The quest requires catching specific kinds of fish, which require specific equipment. You'll find the necessary information on the All fishing rods page.
Catching a Tarpon

- Required Rod: Shallow
- Location: Twisted Strand. Tarpons can be mainly found in the northern part of the area.
- Time of Day: day and night
Catching a Barreleye
Related map marker: Barreleye #1 @ The Marrows
- Required Rod: Abyssal
- Location: Stellar Basin. Look for the fishing spot in the southern part of the area.
- Time of Day: day and night
Catching a Horseshoe Crab
- Requirements: Crab Pot
- Location: Twisted Strand. Place traps around the area and wait for a Horseshoe Crab to get caught.
- Time of Day: day and night
Returning to the Purple Hooded Figure
After some successful fishing you can return to the Purple Hooded Figure and give them the spoils. You'll be rewarded with the Pushing the Limits: Engines book.
