There is a large underwater creature in Stellar Basin, in the south-west part of the world map. It is the central part of this region, i.e. a reservoir surrounded on all sides by small islands.
You can be attacked by giant tentacles or by a large shark-shaped monster. This means that fishing in this area is not possible by default, because after 2-3 successful enemy attacks, your ship will be destroyed and the monster may also interrupt your attempts to complete the fishing mini-game. You need to find a method to distract the monster and we have described it below.
Installing the Repulsion Machine - Research Assistant quest
You must visit the Old Fortress in Stellar Basin and start the Research Assistant Pursuit - its full description is in a separate chapter of the guide.
As part of making progress in this quest mission, you will receive a Repulsion Machine from an NPC Researcher. Move this object to the ship's hold (requires 4 free slots).
Reach the Research Outpost and select the marked Generator. You have to move the Repulsion Machine - this time from the hold to the left slots.
Distracting the creature
You will receive a query about activating the machine. It will start generating sounds that can distract the underwater monster for several hours.
Fortunately, using the generator is not a one-time thing. After it stops working, you can return to the Research Outpost and reactivate it for free.
Temporarily, you can sail and fish in the central part of Stellar Basin safely. This will allow you to:
- fish out the Giant Amphipod and Snailfish specimens (Hadal Fishing Rod required) needed to complete the Research Assistant quest;
- fish out the Jewel Encrusted Brand relic needed to advance further in The Collector quest.
