- Returning to the Fishmonger

- Catching Aberrant Fish
Quest unlocking - talking with the Fishmonger
To unlock the quest, visit Greater Marrow and talk to the Fishmonger.
During the conversation, select the first dialogue option with the exclamation mark. The merchant will ask you to catch two specific types of fish, but you will need a Shallow rod to do it.
Buying Shallow rod
You can buy the Shallow Rod from the Shipwright in the same town where you accepted the quest. At this stage of the game, you have two rods to choose from: Simple Skimmer (#1) and Weighted Line (#2). The second option is more expensive but has a higher bonus to fishing speed, so we recommend choosing it.
Regardless of your choice, install the chosen fishing rod on the ship. You have to move the item to the cargo hold and mount it in the appropriate place. The corresponding slots will be indicated by symbols in squares.

Both species of fish can be found in The Marrows, so searching for them is not a problem. Use the map above to locate the fisheries faster.
- Gulf Flounder (#1) - can be caught during the day. The fishing spot is right on the right side of the town. The second one is located at Little Marrow.
- Gray Eel (#2) - can be caught both during the day and at night. You will find the nearest fishing spot left of the city.
Returning to the Fishmonger
Once you have caught 1 piece of the indicated fish, return to the Fishmonger in Greater Marrow and select the dialogue option with the exclamation mark.
Drag the fish to the slots on the left side of the screen and the quest will be updated. Continue fishing.

The Fishmonger will ask you for more pieces of fish. Both Squid and Black Grouper only spawn at night, so you'll need to wait until dusk for the fishing spots to appear.
Information about the time of day and the current time can be found on the Time in the game page.
- 2x Arrow Squid (#3) - the fishing spot is available at night. It's located between Greater Marrow and Little Marrow.
- Black Grouper (#4) - the nearest fishing point is by the rocks on the right of the Greater Marrow, right next to where you can catch the Gulf Flounder.
Once you have obtained the required fish, return to the Fishmonger and give him the catch. You will receive money and a Crab Pot.
Remember that your Panic level increases at night, which can cause you to hallucinate and make you crash into the rocks. Information on this game mechanic can be found on the page How to reduce the level of Panic?
Catching Common Crab and Fiddler Crab
Now you have to catch Common Crab and Fiddler Crab. You will do it using the Crab Pot you just received. Select the Crab Pot ability from the skill menu (E on PC, L1 on PS, LB on Xbox), then set a trap in the water by clicking the RMB (PC), square (PS), or X (Xbox).
Crab fishing action is automatic after setting the trap, but the process takes some time. You can now engage in other activities or simply use the rest option in the docks. When a crab is caught in the Crab Pot, the trap light will blink. Swim to the trap, interact with it and put the catch into the cargo hold.
The crabs you catch are random, so it may turn out that catching both species will be time-consuming. To speed up the process, you can purchase additional Crab Pots from the Fishmonger for $100 each.
Once you have 1x Common Crab and 1x Fiddler Crab, return to the Fishmonger and put them into the slots on the left side of the screen. Obviously, you will receive money for crabs you sell this way.
Catching Aberrant Fish
The final step is to catch Aberrant Fish, which is the mutant form of common species. There is no specific place where you can catch the Aberration Fish because they appear randomly.
You have to look for fishing spots with a colorful glow . It is easiest to spot such places at night, when colored lights are visible better. Start fishing, play the mini-game, and complete it; eventually, you'll catch this specimen.
Return to the Fishmonger and move the Aberration Fishes to the slots on the left side of the screen. The quest will be completed, and you will receive 2x Research Parts as a reward. You can use them to conduct research for new equipment. This will end the Caught to Order quest.
