From time to time, it may happen that during standard fishing, you may catch Trophies, which are larger, unique variants of the individual fish types. Below we included information how to recognize Trophies and how to increase the chances of catching one.
How to catch and recognize Trophies?
Trophies can appear randomly at any fishing location . There are no special rules for their occurrence, so you just have to be lucky.
During the fishing mini-game, you will sometimes notice a yellow area on the wheel . This means that a Trophy is at the end of your line and you can catch it if the mini-game is successful. Simply press the interaction button when the indicator is in the yellow field (F on PC, X on PS, A on Xbox). However, this instance of the mini-game requires a little more attention, moreover, the type of fish, its size, and the appearance of the fields also influence the difficulty of the mini-game.
There is also a chance of catching Trophy crabs. However, this is completely random, as such sealife are caught through Pots, and everything depends on your luck.
You can recognize Trophies through yellow background of their icons in cargo. Additionally, when pointing the mouse to the catch, aside from standard information, you'll see a golden cup icon.
If you have failed the Trophy-version of the mini-game, the yellow indicator will disappear and the Trophy is gone.
Where can I check the list of Trophies?
If you want to check if you have already caught the Trophy version of a particular species of fish, all you have to do is to open the Encyclopedia tab (L on PC, d-pad down on PS and Xbox). On the page with sought creature, right next to price, there is a cup icon. If its golden, it means that you've already caught the Trophy version of the given species.
Every animal, with the exception of Abberations, has a Trophy variant.
