Books are secret items from the game Dredge, thanks to which you will receive passive stat bonuses. This guide map and page lists all the books and stat bonuses guaranteed by these finds.

Books are collectibles in Dredge, which allow you to obtain passive stat bonuses. On this page of our guide, you can find a list of all Books, along with their locations and bonuses they offer (.e.g better trading prices, better equipment durability).

How to read books?

After getting a book, bring up the ship's menu and go to the Cabin tab.

The Bookshelf list shows all acquired books. You can choose one of them and set it as active. The hero can read one book at a time.

The book is read automatically in the background as time passes in the game world. After the hero finishes reading the book, you will receive a notification. You can then bring up the Bookshelf menu again to:

find out about the passive bonus for reading the book (their list is in the book descriptions further down the page);
choose another book to read (if you have any unread ones in Bookshelf).

Book #1 - Sustainable Fishing

Unlocking the book: You must complete the Package Delivery Pursuit - Dredge: All Books map - Secrets and Collectibles - Dredge Guide

Unlocking the book: You must complete the Package Delivery Pursuit. The book will be given to you by the Dockworker in Little Marrow.

Reward for reading: 10% chance that after catching a fish, the number of fish in the given fishing area will not decrease. This way you can catch more fish from a single fishing area.

Book #2 - Rods, Reels and Rigs

Unlocking the book: You must complete the Caught to Order Pursuit and meet the Fishmonger trader from Greater Marrow.

Reward for reading: 10% more effective fishing rods. It will simply allow you to fish a little faster.

Book #3 - Correct Engine Operation

Unlocking the book: You must unlock The Collector's Pursuit and meet NPC Shipwright in Greater Marrow.

Reward for reading: 5% increased maximum ship speed. You can travel around the game world a bit faster.

Book #4 - Art of the Silver Tongue

Unlocking the book: You must meet the Traveling Merchant e - Dredge: All Books map - Secrets and Collectibles - Dredge Guide

Unlocking the book: You must meet the Traveling Merchant e.g. in the Gale Cliffs and Stellar Bassin regions. You will receive the book during one of the conversations.

Reward for reading: 10% improvement in buying and selling prices. This is a very important book - you can sell goods to traders for higher prices and buy their goods cheaper. The difference is especially noticeable when buying expensive things, e.g. new rods or engines.

Book #5 - The Relaxed Mind

Unlocking the book: You must meet the NPC Trader in Little Marrow to whom you can sell treasures - Dredge: All Books map - Secrets and Collectibles - Dredge Guide

Unlocking the book: You must meet the NPC Trader in Little Marrow to whom you can sell treasures. You will receive the book during one of the conversations.

Reward for reading: Panic state resistance increased by 10%. This will come in handy when traveling at night, because that's when the panic bar can start to load.

Book #6 - The Engineer's Companion

Unlocking the book: You must complete the A Place to Rest Pursuit and meet an NPC Builder at Steel Point.

Reward for reading: 10% slower equipment wear. This will allow you to make repairs less often.

Book #7 - A Plan for the Future

Unlocking the book: You must complete the Research Assistant Pursuit and meet the Researcher in the Old Fortress.

Reward for reading: 15% chance that after catching a fish, the number of fish in the given fishing area will not decrease. This way you can catch more fish from a single fishing area.

Book #8 - Nautical Engineering

Unlocking the book: You must complete the Figure in Red Pursuit.

Reward for reading: 10% slower equipment wear. This will allow you to make repairs less often.

Unlocking the book: You must complete the Figure in Blue Pursuit.

Unlocking the book: You must complete the Figure in Purple Pursuit.

Reward for reading: 7.5% increased maximum ship speed. You can travel around the game world a bit faster.

How to unlock: Find a boat located west from Steel Point in northern part of The Marrows region - Dredge: All Books map - Secrets and Collectibles - Dredge Guide

How to unlock: Find a boat located west from Steel Point in northern part of The Marrows region. The Courier NPC will ask you to deliver a package, initiating Craven Courier Pursuit mission. Unexpectedly, you don't need to complete the quest to get the book - Courier will give it to you once the mission is initiated.
