The Missing Insects Case is one of the optional tasks in Disco Elysium associated with Morell, the cryptozoologist. This walkthrough explains how to unlock this side task, how to get to the hideout and where the missing insects are as well as how to interrogate Cuno about the insects.
Unlocking the task
This task is related to the Inspect the traps task - we described it on a separate page of this guide.
In the final part of the aforementioned task, you must pass the Interfacing skill check. There will be suspicions that Cuno may be responsible for the disappearance of the insects and you can take a closer look at the matter.
Exploring Cuno's hideout
Head to the yard next to Whirling-in-Rags. Don't talk to Cuno yet, just search the boy's hideout.
The entrance to the hideout is in the eastern part of the yard - you need to find a door hidden behind a pile of eternite. To unlock the passage, you need to pass the Perception skill check.
In Cuno's hideout, you will come across a cloud of insects - click on the orb over the hero's head to investigate this discovery more closely and talk to Kim.
Meeting Cuno
Go back to the yard and only now talk to Cuno about the insects. There are no skill checks during this interview. You can optionally ask Cuno about the “city of locusts”. The boy promises to stop.
Returning to Morell and completing the task
Now you can head back to the cafe in Whirling-in-Rags to report back to Morell on the investigation.
You will receive 35 XP for completing the task. You can immediately end the conversation or promise to help find the phasmid and unlock a separate side task associated with it.
