The goal in Prove your authority to Titus Hardie is to prove that you have authority - Titus is the leader of the Hardie Boys group.

The task can only be performed on the 2nd day of the investigation, after completing the Interrogate the vigilantes quest. During it, you will have to pass a difficult Authority skill check. You can make it easier by:

1. Doing the autopsy and finding the bullet (Find the bullet before you get fooled task);
2. Doing a side quest for Joyce - The Jam Mystery and linking Hardie Boys with drug smuggling;
3. Completing the side task Open apartment door for Evrart;
4. Mentioning that Evrart told them to cooperate;
5. If you discover that 8 people participated in the lynching (there are only 7 sitting in the canteen) - by examining the footprints at the crime scene;
6. Warning the Hardie Boys of a tribunal being carried out by mercenaries (Joyce's info on the lynching task);
7. Finding a Witness (The Smoker on the Balcony and Interview the Sunday friend tasks).

Passing the Authority skill check will make Titus reveal information about the woman who was allegedly sexually assaulted by a mercenary - this triggers the Speak to the assault victim quest.
