Disco Elysium: Is there time limit? Disco Elysium guide, walkthrough
Last update: 15 December 2022
On this guide page, you will find out if there is a time limit to solve the mystery murder in Disco Elysium.
Time in Disco Elysium does not flow in real-time – it moves during conversations and interaction with objects but stops during exploration. Furthermore, the clock stops at 2:00 am each night and you must go to bed to start the next day.
However, this does not mean that the quests available in Disco Elysium are time-limited and should be completed as soon as possible. When you receive a new quest, it will be added to the journal along with the date, e.g. Monday 8:42. When it is completed, it will go into the appropriate tab along with information on when it was completed.
If a clock symbol appears next to a quest, it does not mean that time is running out and you have to rush to complete it. In the description of some quests, you will find information on what day and at what time they can be done. A very good example of this is the quest ending the first day of the investigation, in which you have to speak with Kim - End-of-day debrief with Kim. You can complete the task by attempting to enter the hotel room, but only after 10 pm and after paying Garte for the damage done. The second exemplary quest that must be completed by a certain time is Find money for rent and pay Garte – you have to collect 20 Real each day by 9:00 pm to pay for your night's lodging, otherwise, the door to your room at Whirling-In-Rags will be closed.
Quests that have to be completed at a specific time will not disappear if you don't take care of them the same day. You can go to bed and start a new day – the quest will still be available in your journal.
