Last update: 19 July 2024
On this page of our Disco Elysium guide, you can find a detailed description of the Open apartment door for Evrart side quest. We explain, among others, who has the key to the door, how to reach the apartment indicated by Evrart, and whether it's worth to search it for loot.
Note - make sure to leave the Inspect the Traps task (available from day 3) unfinished, as with it completed you may be unable to complete Evrart's task.
- Unlocking the task
- Getting the key to the door
- Finding and opening the door
- Returning to Evrart and completing the quest
Unlocking the task
The task in question is given by Evrart - for information as to where to find this important NPC visit a separate Where is Evrart Claire? page of our guide.
Evart requires you to open a door to a certain apartment. In return, the Union Boss will share his knowledge regarding the hanged man case.
Completing the task doesn't affect the plot negatively, even if your actions during it aren't exactly moral.
Getting the key to the door
Find the Call Me Manana NPC and ask him for the key to the apartment. The man can be found near the protest area (before the entrance to the docks) - he is sitting on the railing and observing how the situation unfolds.
Finding and opening the door
The apartment you're looking for and the door to it can be found in the second part of the courtyard behind the Whirling-In-Rags building. To reach it, you need to circle the Doomed Commercial Area from the western side (from the water side) and turn right into an alley. Once there, interact with the door and use the key to unlock it.
Now you have a choice - you can return to Evrart right away or look inside the opened apartment. To find there are clothing items, medicines, and racist cups connected to Who put the clothes in the trash? quest - the apartment belongs to Cryptofacist Gary.
Returning to Evrart and completing the quest
After completing the task, return to Evrart and tell him that the door has been opened. Now you'll have the opportunity to learn more about the murder mystery from the Union boss.
If you checked the interior of the apartment, you can lie to Evart about not doing it, but a Drama check has to be passed. Nevertheless, failing the check doesn't result in failing something - Evrart and the main character will continue to work together.
You'll be rewarded with 70XP and the Union boss will give you a new task - Get two signatures for Evrart.
