Do points of no return appear in Disco Elysium? Our guide explains this mechanic through which important story events may make you unable to explore Martinaise freely or complete chosen optional tasks of the game. Knowing of these in advance may help you avoid missing interesting additional content.

Spoiler alert - there are some spoilers on the page regarding quests and locations from the finale of the story. Nevertheless, our descriptions are deliberately vague in nature - we don't reveal the exact course of events that happen in the finale.

Main point of no return - Look for Ruby on the coast task

1 - Disco Elysium: Is there a point of no return? - FAQ - Disco Elysium Guide
  1. In the western part of the world map (available for exploration since day 3) there is the Feld building and you can additionally discern it thanks to a large mural on its southern wall. You can try a Shivers skill check with it - don't worry, completing the check is not yet the point of no return. Exploring this location is a part of Look for Ruby on the coast main task.
  2. The next step is to access the interior of the Feld building and you can try to get there thanks to a ladder found left from the mural. Once inside, you need to additionally open the door for Kim from the inside.
2 - Disco Elysium: Is there a point of no return? - FAQ - Disco Elysium Guide
  1. During the exploration of the building, you'll receive a warning from Kim that you're nearing a point of no return - we show this exact moment in the attached screenshot. Additionally, a new objective of the Enter the cavern below the Feld building task will appear - when you're ready.
  2. At this point, we strongly recommend saving your progress manually. Entering the cavern will initiate a long chain of events leading towards the finale of the campaign.
  3. When you proceed through the point of no return some optional quests from your journal may get cancelled. Additionally, there is an important confrontation near Whirling-in-Rags in the main story that takes place after returning from the Feld building. If you want to tie up any loose ends such as unfinished tasks, don't enter the cavern and leave the building.

Additional point of no return - Go to the Island task

3 - Disco Elysium: Is there a point of no return? - FAQ - Disco Elysium Guide
  1. The second point of no return appears after receiving the Go to the Island main quest, which you get at the end of the adventure. Here is where we recommend saving your progress manually again.
  2. In the course of the mentioned quest, the protagonists have to meet up with Net Picker in the fishing village and after getting her permission, use the boat to travel to the island.
  3. The island is a separate location where you'll meet the final story-important NPC and make some major decisions.
  4. After returning from the island, you can no longer travel freely around Martinaise - you'll make some final choices and experience one of the endings. As a result, don't use the boat and travel to the island if you still want to freely explore the main Martinaise map.
