On this page of the Disco Elysium guide, you will find a description of the process of creating a new character using the game's character creator.
The character creator in Disco Elysium is not as extensive as, e.g. in Baldur's Gate 3, and does not allow players to modify the appearance of the main character. When creating a new character, you can distribute Attributes and Skill Points, as well as choose a Signature Skill. If you wish, you can choose to select one of the character archetypes that have been pre-made and are in the game by default.
Archetypes - predefined characters
When choosing one of the predefined characters in Disco Elysium, you must be aware that they may not necessarily fit your play style or have the right skills. You have 3 different variants to choose from:
- Thinker: Highly developed Intellect and Motorics make Harrier extremely intelligent and help him come up with brilliant ideas, but he won't understand other people;
- Sensivite: Highly developed Psyche and Physique help Harry become a person with a gripping personality. Unfortunately, Sensivite Harrier will be emotionally unstable;
- Physical: Highly developed Physique and Motorics make Harrier strong and fit, but not very intelligent.
Your own character
If you want to create your own unique character, select Create your own character to go to the character creator in Disco Elysium.
In the next window, you can distribute points between 4 Attributes: Intellect, Psyche, Physique and Motorics. You have 8 points to allocate, but you cannot place them all to one Attribute.The minimum level of each Attribute is 1 and maximum 6.

In the next character creator window in Disco Elysium, you can see what skills your character will have. Pay attention to the fact that the level of Skills associated with the Attribute has been matched to the level of this Attribute. In the image above, you can see that Intellect and Psyche skills are level 4, and those linked to Physique and Motorics only 2. If you want to change something, you can freely remove and add points to individual Attributes in this window.

The last action to take when creating a new character in Disco Elysium is to choose a Signature Skill. The skill you choose will receive a bonus of +1, so it will stand out among other skills. Additionally, the learning cap for each skill of the same type will be increased by 1.
