Conversation with Klaasje
You must meet Klaasje as part of the Get the whole story from Titus task.
After interrogating Klaasje and learning the truth about the mercenary's death, you can learn some additional facts by passing the legendary Drama skill check. This can be facilitated in several ways:
- If you have discovered the secret passage from the Whirling-In-Rags kitchen to Klaasje's balcony (task Explore the Whirling's secret passages);
- If you suggest that Klaasje lied about reporting the murder;
- If you suggest that it was love that led the man to his death (jealousy motive);
- If you discover that Klaasje tried to manipulate you.
We also recommend that you save the game before the test and put on a piece of clothing that can temporarily increase your Drama skill.
Important choice - arrest or release Klaasje?
In the course of further conversation, you will learn many facts from Klaasje's life, as well as her real name and surname. You can conduct the dialogue in such a way as to accuse the woman of obstructing the investigation and manipulation, and then arrest her - ask Kim to handle that.
The second option is to get her to reveal the name and passport information without trying to arrest her. This activates the side quest Inspect Klaasje's buoy. Regardless of your decision, you will receive 10 XP.
Your decision regarding Klaasje has long-term consequences:
- If Klaasje has been arrested, you will find out later in the game that she has been sent to prison and that she is likely to be executed. Also, Kim will escort Klaasje to the station and will be unavailable for the rest of the day. Take advantage of his absence and deal with activities where Kim could interfere (e.g. the Getting the Hanged Man's boots task).
- If Klaasje has been released, she will escape Martinaise during the Return to the Whirling-in-Rags task (the big confrontation in front of the hostel). She will leave a gift with a note in the hotel room that will help you complete the tasks Determine where the shot came from and Inspect the window in Klaasje's bedroom. In addition, later in the game, you will learn that Klaasje has gotten out of the city successfully and that she is still at large.
- Klaasje's fate doesn't affect the ending of the main plot. As a result of this decision, you will not have the chance to see additional endings.
