Finding 4 traps on the coast is the Check Traps task that Morell commissions in the game Disco Elysium. On this page of the guide you'll find a walkthrough, in which we suggest where the traps are hidden and how to complete the task for the cryptozoologist.

Inspect the traps is a side quest in Disco Elysium received from Cryptozoologist Morell. Our guide describes the locations of all 4 traps, where to look for Morell after the job is done, and what rewards are there for examining the traps found all across the western part of the map.

Unlocking the task

The quest in question is given by Morell - you'll be tasked with finding him during a separate Find Morell, the Cryptozoologist task. As a reminder, he is found squatting in the north-western part of the map which is accessible starting from day 3.

During the conversation with Morell, you'll learn about traps laid by him. You can offer to help with inspecting the traps - this will make Morell and accompanying him Gary leave the area and travel back to Whirling-in-Rags (they will reach their destination only after you've inspected all of the traps).

Trap in cryptozoologist camp

There are 4 traps to find in various parts of the western end of the map. You can approach them in any order. Moreover, all traps will be empty.

This trap is easiest to find because it's in the place where you met Morell.

Trap in Land's End

You have to visit the northern end of the map - this will be north of the Feld building (the one with a large mural). The trap will be next to the water.

Trap near the boathouses

You must travel to the area south-west of the Feld building and the cryptozoologists camp. Look for it in front of a small wooden shed.

Trap near the canal

This trap is found in high grass west of Water lock which you use as a pathway to enter the western part of the map. Look south from the car wreck.

Reporting back in Whirling-in-Rags

With all traps examined, you can go back to the hotel - in the cafeteria on the ground floor, you should encounter Morell, Gary, and Lena (the woman in a wheelchair who sent you to find Morell).

Talk to Lena first. As a reward for finding and bringing her husband back, you'll receive from Lena an Eight-Eyed Teratorn Tie (equipping it provides +1 to Inland Empire and Volition).

Now talk to Morell, who is by the bar right next to Lena. Delivering the report is rewarded with 15XP.

You can now take an Interfacing skill check - passing it will unlock a new side quest - The Missing Insects Case.
