Carriages | Moving AC: Syndicate Guide

Last update: 11 May 2016

A new mechanic added in AC: Syndicate is the possibility to travel by using the carriages. You can find them everywhere and each carriage can be taken over by throwing the driver out (once you get close enough an adequate option will become available). You will use the carriages mostly for quick travel through the streets of London. Few other options are also related to such travel.

Important: Some gang upgrades can affect the carriages appearing on the street, mostly the ones filled with friendly Rooks.

Most of all, during the ride you must remember about the left side traffic, this will allow you to avoid enemies and reduce hitting them, which can be especially troublesome during quests. When driving the carriage you can accelerate the vehicle and move it back.

Enemies are using carriages as well, so there are few mechanics related to vehicle combat. Most of all, the basic "attack" performed from a carriage is ramming the enemies riding on your side. In order to ram you must press the proper button and select the direction in which the carriage will turn. By doing so you can hit the enemy vehicle few times in order to throw it off the track and, in consequence of that, destroy it.

Another way of eliminating enemy carriage is shooting the driver. You can do it by selecting the "quick shot" option - Jacob or Evie will throw a knife or shoot at the highlighted enemy (you will need more than one shot to kill him).

Another way of eliminating the tail is climbing on the roof of the vehicle you drive. From there you can aim precisely and shoot enemy head. The same goes for horses - killing the animal will stop the carriage. When you're on the roof, your carriage will keep riding forward, choosing the route automatically. This gives you at least few moments to focus on eliminating the opponents - they sometimes jump on the roof as well, melee combat on the carriage is possible as well.

After jumping on enemy vehicle, taking control is very easy.

Instead of eliminating enemy vehicles, you can hijack them as well. In order to do it you must jump on the roof of the vehicle you drive, preferably after driving as close to enemy vehicle as possible. Quickly jump from roof to another roof and you will receive an opportunity to take over the vehicle or kill the driver.

Important: When taking over enemy vehicles from the street level, watch out when two enemies are sitting behind the "wheels" - you will throw the first one out, but the second one can throw you and drive away. Because of that, it is better to do it from the roof.

The last mechanic related to carriages is the possibility to hide bodies inside. You will use it mostly during the kidnapping objectives related to taking control of districts. All you need to do is move the body near the carriage door and the game will allow you to throw the body inside.
