Before you set off on an exciting new journey, we recommend that you read our starting tips for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Our tips will provide you with useful information on, e.g. combat, stealth, collectibles, puzzles, collecting books, and using Indiana's whip and other gear.

Stun enemies with melee weapons and don't run while sneaking

  1. These are the two most important tips for staying hidden. Indy cannot stun an opponent with his bare hands. You must hold some kind of one-handed or two-handed weapon - this can be a melee weapon (bottles, batons, sticks, hammers and others) or, for example, the handle of the hero's revolver. A surprise attack allows you to take out an enemy without a fight, but be careful because it makes a lot of noise.
  2. Do not sprint in locations where you want to sneak - enemies may hear you (a question marker will appear on the screen) and move towards the source of noise, increasing the risk of detection.

Collect books and buy skills from them

  1. Books help you learn new skills. Most of them can be found in the game world as loot. Some books are also sold by merchants meaning you have to pay for them.
  2. Just getting a book is not everything, because you need to unlock the Ability associated with it and unlocking it requires Adventure Points. Choose the most helpful skills first, such as those that extend Indy's health bar, improve his regeneration rate, or grant him a new whip move.

We've compiled our recommended books on the Best skills page.

Unlock the camera as soon as possible and look for places to take pictures

  1. The camera is one of the most useful gadgets in the game. Unfortunately, you cannot use it from the very beginning. You must purchase a camera from Ernesto during your first visit to Vatican - this is part of the main storyline.
  2. From now on you can look for objects or characters to photograph. The game displays a camera icon in the upper left corner when you approach a location where you might want to use the camera. Taking pictures rewards you with Adventure Points you can spend on new skills. In addition, it is required to, e.g. complete some tasks.

We’ve covered the process of getting a camera step by step on our How to get a camera? page.

Look for locked containers - break the locks or enter combinations

  1. It should come as no surprise that more valuable loot is stored in locked containers. Small boxes locked with a padlock (example in the picture) can be opened by breaking the padlock with a melee weapon. You should find a lot of cash inside.
  2. Large chests and safes may require a code. Try to look around in such places - there is a good chance that you will come across some notes that will help you determine the correct combination.

Some large containers and safes are also connected to mysteries or discoveries - the related more complex puzzles are described in the Puzzles chapter (e.g. Locked chest in the Belvedere Courtyard and the Priest's safe).

Explore the areas and find places to use the whip

  1. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a game where you often explore vertical locations - you may thus reach, for example, higher ledges or roofs of buildings. This may open up opportunities for you to explore new places or avoid groups of enemies.
  2. The game marks interactive edges or bars with a whip button icon (example in the image). Depending on what you're attached to, you can start swinging on the whip or pull yourself towards the object to climb up.

Use the whip to disarm enemies and chase away dogs

  1. The whip mentioned above can help you not only while exploring and climbing, but also during combat. Use the whip on enemies equipped with a weapon - a successful attack can knock it out of their hand.
  2. Another useful use for the whip is chasing away dogs. This way you can prevent a German Shepherd from biting you - the scared animal will temporarily (but not permanently) leave the area.

We have also described confrontations with German Shepherds on the Can you kill dogs? FAQ page .

The camera can help you solve more difficult puzzles

  1. One of the bonus features of the camera is that you can use the hint system for the puzzles. This only applies to selected, more complex puzzles.
  2. In the place of the puzzle, you can look for a spot to take a photo that will give you hints - example in the picture. With each subsequent photo you take you can receive new hints and eventually Indy can share the complete solution.

Another way is to lower the difficulty level of the puzzles in the game - you can choose a lower challenge level when starting the game or do that in the options. We've covered this in more detail on our Difficulty levels page.

Exploration books help you find secrets

  1. Exploration books may help you find missed secrets instead of unlocking a new skill.
  2. Once you purchase or find a book, you can use it immediately, without spending Adventure Points. You can open Indy's journal and go to the appropriate tab - a map with marked collectibles may appear on the screen (e.g. missing books in the example in the image). This will make it much easier for you to obtain 100% of the secrets from a given group.

Underground boxing ring in Vatican is a source for unlimited bandages

  1. Reaching the place in the Vatican where you can participate in fistfights is described on a separate page - How to unlock the Underground Boxing Ring? - requires completing the related discovery (one of the optional activity categories).
  2. That place is a great spot for getting free bandages (image above). There are no restrictions, so it is worth returning to this place if you run out of bandages while exploring other locations in the Vatican. You don't have to waste time searching the world for bandages to replenish your supplies.
