Which skills to unlock and upgrade at the beginning of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle? On this page of the guide, you will learn about the recommended starting skills - we explain how they work and how to obtain books in the first hours of the game. Thanks to books, you can improve Indy's skills in melee combat or permanently increase his health.

Note: many of the skills we recommend have several levels (e.g. I, II, III). Each of them comes from a separate guide. Searching for additional books is always recommended, as you'll gain an even greater bonus to Indy's stats.

Shaping Up

  1. This skill extends the health bar by one bar, permanently improving the main character's vitality. You will appreciate this in boss fights, boxing rings, or when facing groups of opponents.
  2. You can buy books with this skill in pharmacies; the first one can be found in the Vatican. You have to pay for them with medicine bottles- it's a collectible you can pick up throughout the game.

Lucky Hat

  1. This ability allows you to prevent Indy's death, but its use is limited. After Indy is knocked to the ground, you'll be able to interact with a hat lying next to him. Interacting with it will cause the protagonist to pick himself up from the ground and gain a second chance.
  2. You will find the first book in the western part of Castel Sant'Angelo, near the courtyard patrolled by a guard with a dog.

Hardboiled

  1. This ability can combine two health bars into one. This can improve health regeneration because both automatic and manual health regeneration always apply to the last bar.
  2. You can purchase the first copy of this book from a merchant in the boxing ring in the Vatican.

Pep

  1. This ability speeds up stamina regeneration. This is crucial during larger melee fights, including boss fights. After you jump away from an enemy, your stamina bar can regenerate faster.
  2. The first book of this type was hidden in a tent in the Belvedere Courtyard in the Vatican.

Cutman I

  1. This ability increases the efficiency of health bar regeneration. This is another key aspect in terms of improving the survivability of your character.
  2. You can gain access to the first book after solving the Priest's safe puzzle in the Vatican.

Sawbones

  1. This ability allows you to have 1 more bandage in your inventory. This will be especially useful when infiltrating large locations, where you can easily use up all your bandages when engaging in fights.
  2. You can purchase the first copy of this book from a merchant in the boxing ring in the Vatican.

Punch Out

  1. This ability allows you to regain stamina after knocking out an enemy. This is especially important in situations where Indy engages in melee combat with a group of enemies.
  2. You will find the first book at the beginning of your exploration of Castel Sant'Angelo in the Vatican, near the place where you obtain the guard house key.

Brawler

  1. This ability increases the damage dealt in melee combat. This applies to both melee weapon damage and fistfight options. This second option is a key bonus to winning boxing fights.
  2. You can find the first books in Castel Sant'Angelo and in one of the tents of the forbidden zone in the Belvedere Courtyard in the Vatican.

Throttle

  1. This ability allows you to knock out enemies by surprise using a whip. This is applicable only to lightweight and middleweight enemies, but it is still very useful for efficient takedowns.
