Indiana Jones Great Circle: Can you disable ray tracing and path tracing
On this page of our guide to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, we explain the issues of ray tracing and path tracing in this Machine Games' title.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has high PC requirements. Much of the credit for this goes to ray tracing and path tracing, two graphics options that are very taxing on the graphics card and were added to the game in the first major update. On this guide page we explain whether it is possible to disable ray tracing and path tracing to run the game on weaker systems.
Is it possible to turn off ray tracing?
Unfortunately, ray tracing cannot be turned off. A graphics card that supports ray tracing is therefore required to run this game. These include the NVIDIA GeForce RTX series, Radeon RX 6000 or newer, as well as Intel ARC. Before purchasing the game, make sure your graphics card supports ray tracing and meets the requirements. Cards with 6 GB VRAM may prove problematic; sometimes the game refuses to run on them.
Is it possible to turn off path tracing?
Path tracing can be disabled in the graphics settings within the game menu. However, path tracing is only available on the most powerful graphics cards available on the market, such as the RTX 4080. On weaker graphics cards, path tracing is disabled by default and doesn't even appear in the settings menu.
On more powerful graphics cards, path tracing greatly increases graphics quality. However, this comes at the cost of performance and a significant drop in frame rates. With path tracing enabled, even graphics cards as powerful as the RTX 4080 cannot maintain 60 frames per second. We therefore recommend setting the limit to 30 FPS in the graphics settings. You can treat path tracing as a console quality mode: better graphics at the price of fewer frames per second.
