Last update: 21 May 2024
On this page of the Ghost of Tsushima game guide you will learn how to start the Hidden Cove Tournament on Iki Island during the Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut DLC. Additionally, we included information about the main rewards for winning all 4 battles during the tournament.
Initiating The Hidden Bay Tournament
You will be able to participate in the tournament once you complete the Jin from Yarikawa main quest. Once you return to Fune's Refuge, the tournament marker will appear in the raiders hideout. You'll also notice the battle arena.
You need to talk to one of the raiders about joining the tournament. You will learn some of the most important rules:
- Wooden weapons are used during the battles. These aren't fights to the death.
- The winner of each fight is the person who first hits their opponent 5 times.. This becomes possible once the opponent is exposed to being attacked and fails to block in time.
- You will have to beat 4 participants of the tournament. Each of them uses different attacks during battle. We have described all the battles in detail on the following pages of this chapter.
Important hint - try to complete the mythic tale The Legend of Black Hand Riku before you participate in the battles. Defeating Riku in this quest will earn you the amazing Sarugami armor. It increases the effectiveness and the chance to parry and dodge perfectly, but at the expense of "disabling" regular parries.
We strongly advise you to visit one of the armorers from the game world in order to upgrade the armor to the max. This will raise its stats, but most importantly the game will allow a greater margin for error when making perfect moves.
Rewards for winning 4 battles
Here is a list of rewards for winning individual battles and the entire Hidden Bay Tournament:
- The Hidden Heart Sword Kit.
- A Few Splinters trophy - you'll get it after the last four fights.
- Supplies - can be obtained as rewards for defeating opponents.
- Silk x3.
- An average bonus to your Legend (XP).
Once you defeat Sao, (opponent no. 4 in our guide) you will also learn that he is the Crimson Dye Merchant and that he resides in the southeast of Fort Sakai.
At Sao's, you will be able to trade flowers for various cosmetic items he has on offer, for example, the Undying Rage sword kit or the Hashihime mask.
