This page of our Ghost of Tsushima guide contains a detailed walkthrough for The Coward of Yarikawa main quest. It is a rather short mission. However, you will participate in a large battle during this quest. Our walkthrough shows how to track down the allied archers and how to plan and perform a surprise attack on the Mongol convoy.

Find tracks of the archers

This task will be added to Jin's diary after you complete The Walls of Yarikawa main quest. Reach the Yarikawa Stronghold where a group of allies defends themselves against the Mongol army.

The starting point of this quest is Old Yarikawa - you have to meet Yuna. After listening to Yuna and Taka, look around the area to find the murdered Mongols. Examine one of the corpses.

You will find a small path with footprints next to the murdered enemies. You have to follow them. As with all previous sequences of this type, stay on the path to avoid losing the tracks.

Save Taka from a bear

The footprints will lead you to the cabin, and when you try to get close to it, a bear will run out. If you haven't fought bears before, it is worth knowing that you must focus primarily on avoiding their red attacks - they can inflict heavy damage, knock down or even push Jin backward.

Look for opportunities to perform single attacks after each successful dodge. However, you can also weaken the bear with, for example, bombs or kunai daggers.

Search the house for archers

Enter the house where the bear was and search it. You have to look at the mats, the bows and arrows left inside.

Search the area around the camp

Get out of the building and talk to Yuna. When you are in the camp, examine the wagon loaded with red barrels. Resume tracking the archers by following the tracks near the encampment.

After a while, the heroes will notice the archers in the distance. Meet them on the hill to trigger a cut-scene.

Scout the Mongol camp

The recon sequence is nothing special - just find interactive areas and press X to listen to the commentary. You have to watch the caravan with the prisoners and find other captured archers among the prisoners.

While preparing the ambush on the Mongol convoy, you will talk to Taka - the choice of the dialog option isn't important.

Launch a surprise attack at the right moment

Jin and the others will automatically set up on rooftops. Use any bow to start the ambush - you will find more arrows on the roof.

Wait until the Mongolian convoy stops at the cart loaded with red barrels. Then shoot the barrels to cause a big explosion. It is worth adding that if you don't do this step yourself, one of the allied archers will do that.

Once the battle starts, you have complete freedom of action - you can stay on the rooftops and use the bow, or jump off it and start attacking the Mongols in hand-to-hand combat. If you choose the first option, you can look for red barrels.

Watch out for enemy archers who may appear on the left. If they start shooting at you, use dodges and parrying or retreat to the lower part of the roof. After dealing with all opponents, talk to Daikoku. The quest will be over soon.
