Archery challenges map
You can find 8 archery challenges on the Iki Island. Their locations are marked on the map above.
Challenges marked with the numbers 1-7 can be started immediately after discovering them. After reaching the marked places you'll find some friendly archers and a shooting stand - you can begin the challenge by approaching it.
The challenge marked by the number 8 has some additional requirements, described below.
Eighth, final archery challenge - how to unlock?
In the eighth location we've marked on the map you can find the Raider Memorial - at first, you won't see a shooting stand and won't be able to start the challenge.
Talking to one of the villagers nearby gives you a small clue regarding what to do.
In order to unlock the "secret" shooting competition you need to wear Tadayori's Armour. Unfortunately, this armor can't be found on the Iki Island. It's unlocked on Tsushima (during the base game's campaign) by completing a mythical tale: The Legend of Tadayori. If you didn't finish this mission yet, wait until you can return to Tsushima and take care of it.
Once again, talk to the villager at the Raider Memorial. This time the conversation will unlock the archery challenge in this location. It follows the same rules as all the other ones.
Shooting competitions - the most important rules
Archery challenges involve shooting stationary targets while on a time limit. You can start the competition by approaching the arrow stand. Playing through the challenges is free. They can also be attempted multiple times in order to get the high score.
Remember to aim a bit higher when shooting distant targets, as your arrows, due to obvious reasons, don't fly completely straight. You can attempt each challenge several times and memorise how much higher you need to aim to hit the target.
At the end of each competition you'll receive a summary. Jin can win one of three possible medals:
- gold for destroying all targets in less than 7 seconds,
- silver for destroying all targets in less than 15 seconds,
- bronze for destroying all targets in less than 22 seconds.
How to win gold medals in archery challenges?
First of all, you need to know two important things:
- Don't worry if the gold medal initially seems unobtainable. The archery mini-game is designed to allow gradually improving your scores.
- To obtain the Pride of Ishikawa trophy you only need to get bronze in all eight challenges. You don't have to strive for silver or gold at all costs.
To improve your results in the archery challenges you'll need the Charm of Concentration. The first "version" of this charm is obtained by passing any archery challenge for the first time.
The charm gives you concentration while aiming your bow, letting you slow down time by pressing the analog stick. This method can be used to hit targets quicker and finish the mini-game in a shorter amount of time.
Every time you pass an archery challenge or obtain a better medal in an already-passed challenge, the charm gets stronger, letting you slow down time for longer. This is the way to obtain better results - keep improving your scores and initially focus on obtaining silver medals in all eight challenges.
You can also use other charms improving your concentration or archery to increase your chances of achieving gold.
