- Increasing health and resolve permanently
- Temporary increase of health and resolve
How to heal Jin?
The red health bar is displayed in the bottom left corner of the screen, but only when necessary, i.e. it won't be visible, for example, during exploration.
Lost health points don't restore automatically. This means that the injured hero must be healed. The exception is the situation when you have a charm with the right passive bonus - more about this on this page.
You can heal Jin by pressing down on the d-pad - this requires resolve. When you do that, the hero will restore some of his health. If you are heavily injured, you will need to heal Jin 2 or 3 times.
Resolve - what is it?
Resolve is the second main stat. It is symbolized by yellow circles appearing above the health bar.
Resolve is used primarily in healing Jin. However, it has other uses - you can spend it on special attacks, such as the Heavenly Strike.
Resolve doesn't regenerate automatically, just like the health. You can restore resolve by parrying attacks and killing opponents. In the case of parrying, you get the most resolve by performing a perfect parry. As for eliminating enemies, try to perform executions. You can also gain a lot of resolve by finishing off dying opponents.
Try to always have a little bit of resolve. Once you have depleted your resolve, you won't be able to heal Jin for a limited time. This can make it even more difficult for you to keep the hero alive.
Increasing health and resolve permanently
You can permanently increase Jin's health and resolve by making progress in the game. We strongly advise increasing both of these stats. This will make the character stronger and reduce the risk of sudden death.
You increase health or resolve by increasing the legend (reputation) level - once every few "experience levels". You can increase reputation by completing quests and liberating locations from the Mongols.
Your health can be increased permanently by visiting Hot Springs. It is one of the optional locations on the world map marked with a question mark. Check out our world atlas to learn where to find them. You don't increase the health points with each visit. The health bar is extended once every few discovered hot springs.
Resolve can be increased permanently by visiting locations with Bamboo Strikes. These places are also marked one the map with a question mark. You don't increase the stat by completing each bamboo cutting mini-game. Resolve is increased every few bamboo mini-games.
You can increase the hero's health and resolve permanently with some passive skills:
1) Perfect Healing Parry skill allows you to recover some health after each successful perfect parrying.
2) Resolved Parry skill allows you to regain some resolve after each successful regular or perfect parrying.
3) Iron Will skill allows you to avoid death by consuming 2 circles of Resolve to revive. You can use this ability after Jin loses all his health points and is on the verge of death. Press the bottom directional button to use Resolve and resume the battle. The hero will be on the verge of deaths, thus, run away or heal him (if you have more Resolve).
Temporary increase of health and resolve
Health and resolve can also receive temporary bonuses, i.e. only when you are wearing a specific item.
The biggest bonuses are guaranteed by armors. Samurai Clan Armor is especially important here. It provides a health bonus, you receive less damage, and gain more resolve. All these parameters can also be increased by buying armor improvements. Some other outfits can also give you similar bonuses.
Smaller bonuses are guaranteed by charms - the maximum possible number of charms equipped at the same time is 6. You can get charms by, e.g. completing selected side quests and visiting Shinto shrines.
Talismans offer various stat bonuses. To enhance the hero's health, look for charms that:
- increase the health bar
- grant slow health regeneration in-between fights
- reduce damage when your health is low
- recover small amount of health by killing enemies
- increase the amount of health restored after pressing down on the d-pad
