Tour Guide / Take the Shortcut
Follow Aerith - you're in for a fairly linear sequence with a few enemies. Eventually, you'll get to a big mechanical hand that you can control. Go to the console and control the hand so it stops over the yellow field. Select Offer Ride for Aerith to jump on the hand. Now move the woman up the hill next to her and choose Drop Off to get Aerith off and down the ladder. Climb higher and continue, fighting, among others, with sweepers (prone to lightning).
After a while, you'll reach the other mechanical hand. Start by moving the container to the yellow field on the right - so that you can now place Aerith on the container. She will then pick up Binding Matter for you. Then move the woman to the next hill to drop the ladder for you.
Join your companion and continue walking through the tunnels. After a while, you will come across three thugs - Burke, Beck and Butch. After the cutscene, beat the half-wits and move on. There's a Sweeper waiting for you along with the third and final hand riddle.
Start by moving the red container to the yellow field on the right. Then move Aerith thereto lift up the Magnify matter. It's one of the best Matter in the game, especially when you combine it with Healing matter.
Now you have to stack one container on the other, place Aerith on top of them, then switch to the other hand and move the woman to drop the next ladder.
Beyond the Dead End / Saying Goodbye
You'll run into bandits. You have to be careful because they like to sleep in combat and then use Steal command to steal your Gils. Best use fire matter and Triple Slash to eliminate them quickly. There are a few more cutscenes with Aerith and Cloud. After all, you have to decide if you want to go to Sector 7.
Chasing Tifa / To Corneo's Mansion
After the cutscene, follow the car and Tifa. Talk to Sam, then run to town. After a walk through the city, head towards the Corneo's Mansion. Talk to his bodyguards, then go outside.
The Trio - Sam, Andrea Rhodea, Madam M
You have to visit the Trio and ask their permission to audition for Corneo. When you talk to Sam, he'll tell you to pick the side of the coin. Whether you choose Heads, Tails or no Deal, nothing will change - Sam has a fake coin and you will always lose. You will meet Mr Rhodea at his establishment but you won't be able to talk to him without an appointment.
Go to Madam M's and, after the cutscene, choose one of her services - Luxury Course, Standard Course or Poor Man's Course. Depending on how much you pay, you'll see a different scene (for 3,000 you'll get an extremely pleasant massage, for 1,000 quite painful but still relaxing, and for 100 a real torture). You will not receive any debuff/buff, so the choice is up to you. You can also compliment Aerith's outfit. This choice matters - when watching a cutscene in Chapter 14, depending on who you favor and who you spend more time with (doing all side missions, choosing friendly dialogue paths), you'll see a cutscene with Aerith, Tifa or Barrett.
Underground Colosseum
You must now go to the underground Colosseum with Madam M's invitation. After the cutscenes, take the elevator down. When you are called to fight, go to the guard and report to the arena. Between the next skirmishes, you can go back to your room and heal.
- Round 1 - Bloodhounds and Beastmaster
- Round 2 - Burke, Beck Butch and Corneo Lackey
- Round 3 - Cutter and Sweeper
- Round 4 - boss fight, Hell House
Fights in arenas aren't particularly hard. Let Aerith cure Cloud while he performs Triple Slash and uses Elemental matter + Lightning matter, among other things. The fight against Hell House, however, is described on a separate page of the guide.
Parting Ways
Go back to Madam M, and she will offer to take care of Aerith's preparation. Before you agree, make sure Aerith joins the challenge at the Coliseum and gets a new break Limit for herself. Go see Sam now, and you'll unlock additional missions in this chapter.
Annotation! Side missions are different in this chapter, depending on if and how many previous side missions you have performed. If you skipped previous tasks or only completed part of them, you will get a different set of tasks (more for the villain and the typical mercenary), while if you performed side tasks conscientiously, you will get a set of "good" side tasks.
Rescue Tifa / Aerith's Plan
Once you've completed the side missions, go to Aerith and Johnny will show up. Go to Corneo's bodyguards and then go outside to see as Aerith appears in her dress. Now follow her to Andrea, talk to the three dancers, and you begin your dance training - another mini-game. You have to press the buttons at the right moment when they are highlighted and thebBeam goes through them. It's worth training because you're about to have a long and demanding dance scene.
You're gonna have a dance scene with Andrea now. It's best to base your buttons on colors because sometimes their shape can blur as you dance. It's the craziest sequence of the whole game - Cloud really gets in on the act!
The Audition / Showdown with Corneo
Disguised as a woman, go to Corneo's mansion. After the cutscenes, you wake up in another room and meet Tifa, who joins the team. Get out of the room and watch the next cutscenes. After a while, you'll get your gear back and you'll have to beat some guards. Go to Corneo and talk to him. In the end, you can choose a dialog option - When they think they've already won. The man will use a ruse and throw you into the sewers, and the chapter end.
