You meet Chadley for the first time in Chapter 3 - Home Sweet Slum. The boy will ask you to complete certain challenges called Battle Intel. The reward for doing these tasks is e.g. an option to buy new Materia from him. Try completing them on a regular basis.
You will meet Chadley from time to time in different cities, so try to do Battle Reports on a regular basis. It is worth adding that Battle Intels can be done in advance - you can start completing steps for various Battle Intels earlier. When you select the next challenges, you will complete them automatically. You will receive new tasks after completing the previous ones. Report 01 - Monster Bio Pt. 1
Completion conditions: Use Assess on 2 types of enemies.
Reward: New Materia - Auto-Cure Materia
Comment: This Battle Intel is very easy. All you have to do is use Assess on two enemies. Auto-Cure is very useful for most of the game, so it is worth having it in your inventory.
Report 02 - Magic Elements Pt. 1
Completion conditions: Use Fire, Ice or Lightning on three enemies vulnerable to these elements.
Reward: New Materia - Wind Materia
Comment: Wind Materia is useful in later chapters, so start leveling it up as soon as possible.
Report 03 - The Stagger Effect Pt. 1
Completion conditions: Use unique skills on an enemy with staggered status and charge the ATB bar 10 times.
Reward: New Materia - First Strike Materia
Comment: Unique skills are those gained from the weapons you use, like Cloud's Thrust, etc.
Report 04 - The Stagger Effect Pt. 2
Completion conditions: Trigger Stagger status on 15 different enemy types.
Reward: New Materia - ATB Boost Materia
Comment: Tifa is perfect for staggering enemies thanks to her fast attack speed.
Report 05 - Combat Simulation: Shiva
Completion conditions: Defeat Shiva.
Reward: New Materia - Shiva Materia (Summon)
Comment: Shiva is extremely vulnerable to fire. Summon Ifrit to make the fight very easy. Elemental Materia + Fire Materia also work well.
Report 06 - Monster Bio Pt. 2
Completion conditions: Use Assess on 10 enemy types.
Reward: New Materia - Steadfast Block Materia
Comment: An easy task, especially since the game counts the times when you used Assess on previous enemies.
Report 07 - Magic Elements Pt. 2
Completion conditions: Exploit weaknesses of 15 enemy types.
Reward: New Materia - Steal Materia
Comment: Just like in the example above, the game counts previous uses of weaknesses.
Report 08 - The Manipulation Technique
Completion conditions: Defeat 2 or more enemies with a single attack.
Reward: New Materia - Provoke Materia
Comment: Get a few enemies to have low HP and finish them with e.g. Cloud's Triple Slash.
Report 09 - Monster Variants Pt. 1
Completion conditions: Defeat three unique monster variants.
Reward: New Materia - Synergy Materia
Comment: Unique enemies are usually encountered during side missions. Try to complete them to finish this report.
Report 10 - Combat Simulation: Fat Chocobo
Completion conditions: Defeat Fat Chocobo in battle.
Reward: New Materia - Fat Chocobo Materia (Summon)
Comment: Fat Chocobo isn't very mobile in combat. Use Poison Materia and strong offensive spells.
Report 11 - Monster Bio Pt. 3
Completion conditions: Use Assess on 20 enemy types.
Reward: New Materia - Item Master Materia
Comment: An easy task, especially since the game counts the times when you used Assess on previous enemies.
Report 04 - The Stagger Effect Pt. 3
Completion conditions: Increase your opponent's stagger damage bonus to 200%.
Reward: New Materia - Parry Materia
Comment: Best done when fighting a large enemy that has a long stagger bar. Use Tifa's special skill (triangle in combat) when the enemy is staggered to further increase the bonus.
Report 13 - Refocus Analysis
Completion conditions: Use Refocus Limit Break twice.
Reward: ATB Assist Materia.
Comment: Equip any character with Refocus Materia and lead them to a state in which they can use Limit Break - choose Refocus.
Report 03 - The Stagger Effect Pt. 4
Completion conditions: Trigger Stagger status on 40 different enemy types.
Reward: New Materia - ATB Boost Materia
Comment: Stagger new enemy types with e.g. Tifa's attacks.
Report 05 - Combat Simulation: Shiva
Completion conditions: Defeat Leviathan.
Reward: New Materia - Leviathan Summon Materia
Comment: Leviathan inflicts very heavy Materia damage - be very careful. The enemy has no major weaknesses, so you have to focus on normal attacks, healing (Magnify + Healing Materia) and using your own Summon. Powerful offensive spells such as Thundaga also work well.
Report 16 - Monster Bio Pt. 4
Completion conditions: Use Assess on 30 enemy types.
Reward: New Materia - Enemy Skill Materia
Comment: An easy task, especially since the game counts the times when you used Assess on previous enemies. Just use Assess on every type of enemy you encounter.
Report 17 - Weapon Abilities
Completion conditions: Acquire all 16 special weapon skills.
Reward: New Materia - Skill Master Materia
Comment: The list of all weapons can be found in a separate chapter of the guide. You have to equip characters with new weapons and learn their special skills.
Report 18 - MP Consumption
Completion conditions: Master all 12 types of Magic Materia.
Reward: New Materia - MP Absorption Materia.
Comment: You can quickly improve Materia using AP UP Materia (you get it from mastering Pedometer Materia) from Chapter 14.
Report 19 - Monster Variants Pt. 2
Completion conditions: Defeat ten unique monster variants.
Reward: New Materia - HP Absorption Materia
Comment: Unique enemies are usually encountered during side missions. Try to complete them to finish this report.
Report 20 - Combat Simulation: Bahamut
Completion conditions: Defeat Bahamut.
Reward: New Materia - Bahamut Summon Materia
Comment: A very tough fight - Revive Earrings can help with Bahamut's Mega Flare. It is best to start this battle with a fully developed team, use attacks causing stagger, and the strongest Materia.
