Last update: 05 August 2022

On this page of the Final Fantasy VII Remake game guide, you will find a list of the best, in our opinion, Materia available in the game.

It's hard to say which Materia in FF7 Remake is unambiguously the best. Of course, a lot depends on your own preferences, your team configuration and, of course, where you are in the game. Many of the more powerful Materia are available later, near the end of the game. Below is a list of the best Materia in the game.

Below, we listed the best in Final Fantasy VII Remake - Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Best Materia - which? - Materia - Final Fantasy 7 Remake Guide

Below, we listed the best in Final Fantasy VII Remake:

  1. Cure/Cura/Curaga - Healing Materia. An absolute must-have for most of the game, it is best to equip Cloud with it and gradually develop in combat.
  2. Thunder/Thundara/Thundaga (Lightning Materia) - The majority of the bosses and enemies are weak to lightning. Try to level this Materia up to the maximum level.
  3. Auto-Cure Materia. Team members can cast Cure on you or other wounded party members. Useful for the majority of the game.
  4. Provoke Materia - A typical Taunt known from other games. The character with this Materia equipped draws the enemies' attention - perfect for Barrett.
  5. Poisona/Esuna/Resist (Cleaning Materia) - It is good to have at least one team member who can remove negative statuses from the rest. Give this Materia to a character you don't control a lot in combat.
  6. Elemental Materia - The absolute basis in combat. You can put it in a slot that connects to other Materia and add elemental power to the basic attacks. It works great for Cloud, for example, when you combine attacks with the Lightning Materia.
  7. Assess Materia - Useful in combat when you want to know the weaknesses of your enemies and see what element they are susceptible to. Ideally, this Materia should be used by your companions.
  8. ATB Boost Materia - Doubles the ATB. Very useful Materia, especially on higher difficulty levels and when fighting harder bosses.
  9. Prayer Materia - Pray heals your entire team. A perfect Materia for Aerith that will make many fights a lot easier.
  10. HP UP, MP UP, Magic UP etc. - Materia that passively increase the level of the given stat are very useful. You can make, for example, Barret fill up the role of tank or deadly effective Aerith who can use the elemental magic.
  11. Steadfast Block Materia - Reduces the damage while blocking and fills the ATB bar faster. Very good for Cloud and his Punisher Mode. You can very quickly destroy enemies fighting in close combat.
  12. Magnify Materia - increases the attack area of the elemental spell connected with this Materia. Very good for groups of enemies when, for example, we grind and want to kill opponents en masse.
  13. HP Absorption Materia - Restores HP after performing a physical or magical attack based on the connected Materia.
  14. AP UP Materia - mainly used for leveling up the Materia with which it is connected. It is great for the late game when you want to level up a new Materia quickly.
