How to discover weaknesses?
To stagger opponents faster, you need to know their weaknesses. You need Assess Materia for that. This is a special Materia you get by completing Chadley's Report side mission.
During it, you will learn how to use this Assess Materia and how to discover enemies' weaknesses. From now on, you can exploit them against your enemies' weaknesses to your advantage. That way, not only will you deal far more damage to them, but you will also increase the chance of staggering them.
Using weaknesses
Once you know your opponent's weaknesses, you can use this knowledge against them. They are usually Elements, which deal specific types of damage - for example, fire.
The best character to scan the enemies
Barret is one of the characters in FF7 Remake, which is best to scan enemies using Assess Materia. After properly developing the attributes and abilities, you can make him a tank and great support for the party.
For more info on the suggested Barret build, check out the separate page in our guide.
