Buy new Materia at stores and Vending Machines
Some Materia can be only obtained in certain places (mainly at Vending Machines), so buy them whenever you can, because you could miss the opportunity. Keep them all - they might be useful later.
Always destroy boxes
During the game, you will often come across characteristic chests (Shinra Boxes). It's worth destroying them because they contain valuable items like Moogle Medals. Additionally, boxes restore HP and MP.
Explore maps and open chests
Most stages in Final Fantasy VII Remake are linear, but sometimes, you will find forks and corridors which lead to hidden map sectors. If you find a hidden passage, it's worth checking it out - you may find new items and useful Materia.
Transfer Materia between characters
In FF7 Remake, characters in the team change - some may go, and some may join you. If one of the characters has no role in the team, check out their equipment and Materia - maybe a different active character can use it.
Use Healing Materia
Healing Materia is one of the best Materia in Final Fantasy VII Remake, so it's worth upgrading it from the beginning of the game. Later you can pass it on to Aerith and get a really useful healer.
Block attacks!
Dodge is a helpful move but is not 100% effective because it doesn't make you resistant to damage, and you can still get hurt. During the fight, use block to guard against stronger attacks and combos, especially while controlling Cloud - in Punisher Mode, he counters enemies' attacks.
You can use multiple items
In Final Fantasy VII Remake, characters can use several items at once - just hold L1. It is especially useful when you want to heal a character with many Potions.
Any weapon for your companions is good
In FF7 Remake, unlike in the 1997 original, you will find much fewer weapons, but each is effective and has a different development tree. For example, the Buster Sword is a purely offensive weapon, and the Iron Blade is great if you want Cloud to use Materia and magic. As you play, try different builds to find the one that best suits your playstyle.
Weapons always get SP, even the unequipped ones
In Final Fantasy VII Remake, you don't need to use a weapon to get Skill Points (SP) for it. Thanks to this, you can change your equipment any time you want and try different builds.
New weapon is a new ability
Every weapon available in the FF7 Remake has a unique ability that can be used during fights when you equip the proper weapon. If you use the ability, the character will max it out (Weapon Proficiency) and will be able to use it even when you use a different weapon. So it's worth changing the arms of characters to learn new special abilities.
Use Assess Materia
You can get the Assess Materia from Chadley in Chapter 3, and we recommend using it - it displays various information on your opponents: HP, weaknesses, and others. Once you obtain the data, you can read it in Enemy Intel again.
Level up Materia
Upgrading Materia influences the gameplay and makes it easier. It's worth putting it in the free slot, even if you don't use it at the moment. It will be getting Ability Points (AP), advance to higher levels, and can be useful in the future.
Perform Chadley's Battle Intels
Chadley's Battle Intel is an additional activity (challenge) in Final Fantasy VII Remake you can do in your free time. It's worth doing it to get access to more Materia.
Have you missed a side mission or a music CD?
If you missed a side mission, secret, or collectible playing FF7 Remake, you can go back to the given chapter and catch up after completing the game.
