In this chapter of our game guide to Destiny 2 you will learn how to get the Thorn revolver - how to start the quest and how to complete all of its stages.
Acquiring the Thorn Exotic weapon will not be easy, as it requires players to complete a complex quest divided into 8 stages. Some sub-quests will require several hours of grinding in PvE and PvP mode, while other tasks can be easily done in a single Heroic event. Below we present a complete list of quests that have to be completed in order to get the Thorn Exotic weapon, including tips on how to perform them.

Thorn - How to start a quest
Unfortunately, you won't find any tips in Destiny 2 on how to start a special quest which can grant you the Thorn Exotic weapon. Thus, we explain exactly how to start this unique quest below.
Go to the map of the Solar System, select the European Dead Zone planet and select the location indicated in the image above. Then head to The Salt Mines location - along the way you can do some daily tasks related to eliminating groups of opponents.
When you reach the indicated location, look around for a teleporter - you'll stand near the elevator. It's the same teleporter you might have used during the first campaign of Destiny 2.
Walk ahead until you reach a cliff with a curved barrier and a stretch of road, which can be seen in the image above on the left. Keep going straight and jump a little higher - you'll reach the abandoned camp. On the left, you will find an extinguished campfire. You must interact with it and search through the ashes to begin the first stage of the Thorn Exotic weapon chain quest - A Melted Chunk of Metal.
Thorn - A Melted Chunk of Metal
Completing A Melted Chunk of Metal quest is extremely easy, as all you need to do is go to The Tower and talk to the Banshee-44 NPC. After the conversation, your task will be automatically updated and you can proceed to the next step.
Thorn - The Essence
To complete the Essence task you need to collect 50 Hadronic Essences by performing various activities:
- Complete Bounties for Asher Mir on Io planet;
- Kill Warlock opponents in The Crucible mode;
- Complete Nightfall: The Ordeal.
At the time of writing this guide, the fastest possible way to collect 50 Hadronic Essences is to perform the Nightfall: The Ordeal. Nightfall is enough to get as many as 15 Essences and there is no difference in the score you get at the end so it is best to play it on the lowest difficulty level.
Thorn - The Steel
To complete the Steel task you need to collect 50 Plasteel Plating by performing various activities:
- Complete Bounties for Sloane on Titan planet;
- Kill Titan opponents in The Crucible mode;
- Complete The Blind Well Public Event.
At the time of writing this guide, the fastest possible way to collect 50 Plasteel Plating was to perform The Blind Well Public Event on a Heroic difficulty level. For each completed event on the Heroic level you will receive up to 10 Plasteel Plating. Thorn - The Binding
To complete the Binding task you need to collect 50 Sapphire Wire by performing various activities:
- Complete Bounties for Ana Bray on Mars;
- Kill Hunter-type opponents in The Crucible mode;
- Complete The Escalation Protocol Public Event.
At the time of writing this guide, the fastest possible way to collect 50 Sapphire Wire was to take part in a public event called The Escalation Protocol and perform Bounties for Ana Bray at the same time. For each completed stage of this event you will receive 5 Sapphire Wire and an additional 5 for each side quest.
Thorn - Weaponize the Unknown
Weaponize the Unknown is one of the most demanding side quests in the Thorn Exotic weapon chain quest. Your task consists in killing Guardian opponents in The Crucible gameplay mode by using Void energy (e.g. skills from a character's subclass) or Hand Cannon type weapons.
The quickest way to fill the progress bar of the Weaponize the Unknown task is to use a Hand Cannon with the Void element and perform Precision kills.
Thorn - Something Yet Reminds
Something Yet Reminds is a very simple task for a change, which involves visiting Tyra Karn, who can be found at The Farm. The Farm can be accessed directly from a view of the European Dead Zone. After the conversation, your quest will be automatically updated.
Thorn - The Chasm of Screams
The Chasm of Screams quest is the last stop on the road to Thor's Exotic weapon but it's very demanding. To complete this quest you must defeat the Arbiters, Sardav and Telesh enemies and then eliminate the main boss - Savathun's Song. You can find all your opponents in a Strike called The Chasm of Screams on Titan planet. Once you do this, the Thorn Exotic weapon will be yours!
