Destiny 2: Second character, class - character development Destiny 2 Guide
Last update: 28 March 2021
In this chapter of our game guide to Destiny 2 we explain how to change a character class and how to transfer items when you change a character to a completely different one.
During the gameplay in Destiny 2 you can freely switch between the subclasses of a particular character. This action is free of charge. Each subclass represents a slightly different style of play. Also, it has different skills which can be useful when you have to complete different types of activities. However, if you want to play a completely different character you will have to log out and create a new character from a scratch. Therefore, you have to run the character creation wizard and completing the prologue one more time.
Subclasses in Destiny 2
Due to the subclasses system implemented in Destiny 2, you can switch between specific variants of your favorite character without having to create a new Guardian. It is extremely helpful when you have to perform specific tasks which can be completed by a particular subclass in a more efficient way than by other subclasses.
You can switch the character subclasses by entering the character menu (F1 key by default). Hover the cursor over the current variant of your character and you will immediately notice two additional options to choose from.
Some challenges available in Destiny 2 require the player to complete a specific action. For example, you will have to complete the Strike mode with a specific subclass or kill your opponents by using the Arc, Void, or Solar skills.
Vault
Creating a new character in such a complex game as Destiny 2 and acquiring everything right from the start would be extremely time consuming. Fortunately, the game has a currency sharing and vault sharing feature. This allows you to save money or useful items for later that can be used by the second character, which can make it much easier at the beginning of the game. Also, you can freely spend your Glimmer. First of all, don't forget to hand over the vehicle (Sparrow) - it will significantly speed up your traveling on the map.
The vault can be found both on the Farm and in the Tower. It serves as a universal deposit storage of your entire account. What does that mean? That when a new character is being created, you can withdraw items from the Vault straight into new hero's inventory. Therefore, if you are planning to create a second profile from the beginning, it is worth keeping the best items (at least the ones you enjoyed most, and especially more universal ones than class-specific) from different levels. All currencies (such as the Glimmer) are also shared among all characters and are attributed to the entire account.
