Destiny 2: Patrols - markers and activities Destiny 2 Guide

Last update: 29 March 2021

This chapter of Destiny 2 game guide describes Patrols - one of the side missions that can be performed on any planet. The terms and icons for each type of Patrol have also been also explained here.

These missions are usually rewarded with tokens and a small amount of Glimmer. They are simple and short, and their execution is necessary to complete some Bounties. They appear from time to time in random places on the planet, unmarked on the map - use Nav Mode to make the Patrol icons visible from a few dozens of metres.

You can only take part in one Patrol mission at a time, but it can be combined with other quest and can be completed while performing another mission. Patrols were divided into several categories:

Assassination Mission

If you have, for example, a milestone that requires you to complete a certain number of Patrols and you are not interested in all of them, then select the one which is closest to you and cancel it from the Nav Mode after taking the mission. New patrols will appear in the area, also of a different type.

Salvage Mission

In these tasks, you must locate specific types of opponents (when you open the Nav Mode, you will see who you are looking for) and kill the specified number of opponents in order to collect the quest items they drop. Once you have collected the required amount, the task will be completed. You will be able to collect the reward. Only opponents defeated within a certain area of the map count, that is, in the locations indicated by the quest marker.

Combat Mission

In this mission you must defeat a certain number of enemies in a specific location. These can be enemies of all kinds. Their number is never given. Only after each enemy unit is being killed, the progress indicator will indicate the current status of the quest. If you kill as much as the task requires, it will automatically end. After that you will receive a reward.

Analysis Missions consist in finding a specific item and scanning it - Destiny 2: Patrols - markers and activities - Markers and activities - Destiny 2 Game Guide
Analysis Missions consist in finding a specific item and scanning it

Analysis Mission

One of the simpler missions. Reach the target and analyze the object (by holding the action key). You can do this without engaging in combat with opponents in the area, but you will often encounter many of them as they may protect this mysterious object you're looking for.

Survey Mission

Similar to Analysis Missions, however, they often lead to far more remote but usually slightly safer areas. You need to get to the right point (it's often quite easy to mistake the floor or move into the corner of the room where the scanning is going to deactivate) and wait until the scanning gets completed in 100%. It's worthwhile to carry out these tasks when you have the ability to summon the vehicle (after completing the main story, the vehicle can be summoned by using the Nav Mode).

Assassination Mission

These tasks are quite rare. You must go to the selected part of the location and eliminate the specified targets. They are always strong opponents, so try to take them by surprise with the strongest weapon you have.
