Destiny 2: Currencies Destiny 2 Guide

In this chapter of the guide you can find out what are the main currencies available in Destiny 2 and what they are needed for.

At the time we are writing this guide, there are four types of currency available in Destiny 2: Glimmer, Legendary Shards, Silver and Bright Dust. They are shared by all characters created on your account. You can check their status in the top right corner of the screen.

Currencies in Destiny 2 - Details

Glimmer (1) is the most common type of currency. You will receive it for almost every activity performed in the game, including: completing all tasks, killing opponents and dismantling: weapons and armor, modifications, colors. Don't save it that much - in the final stages of the game you just won't have a way of using it. Legendary Shards (2) are obtained by disassembling weapons and armor of Legendary or Exotic class (purple or gold background). It is used for a few purposes: when using modifications and Infusion, during special purchases (while trading with the Xur vendor). Silver (3) is a special exclusive currency that can be purchased with real money and spent on additional cosmetic items in the game. The last type of currency is the Bright Dust (4). It has only one purpose and usability, that is, it can be used while trading with Tess Everis. This is not a priority equipment, as you will mostly find some "extras" in her offer: colors and decorations of weapons, models of vehicles or Ghosts. Bright Dust is being awarded for performing certain Bounty tasks, as well as for dismantling cosmetic items such as vehicles, ships, ornaments, and Ghosts.
