Eager to find the exotic Khvostov in Destiny 2? Check out our Final Shape guide, where we explain how to get every Mote of Light to open the golden chest.
The Khvostov gun holds a special place in the heart of every Destiny fan, as it was the first weapon the Guardian obtained in the game. Now, The Final Shape DLC for Destiny 2 brings back this iconic auto rifle in its most powerful form – the exotic Khvostov 7G-0X. But to claim it, you'll need to gather 17 Motes of Light and uncover hidden collectibles, Visions of Traveler. Read on if you want to learn how to open the chest in The Lost City.
How to Get 17 Motes of Light in Destiny 2 Final Shape
Once you get the legendary version Khvostov 7G-02, you can unlock the chest containing the exotic version. To achieve this, you must first gather all 17 Motes of Light. Here's how you can do it:
- Collect all 8 Visions of Traveler. Each Vision grants you a Mote of Light and can only be obtained after completing the campaign. The one in the Seclusion region might be inaccessible if you haven't progressed enough in Micah’s Alone in the Dark quest involving lost ghosts. Many players have already found these collectibles. For detailed locations, watch a video from HarryNinetyFour.
- Get 9 Motes of Light from bosses by completing Overthrows in each zone. Every zone has 3 unique bosses that spawn over time, with each boss dropping 1 Mote of Light. You can’t receive another Mote of Light from defeating the same boss again. The last boss you defeat will drop Mote of Primordial Light.
- Return to The Lost City and go the Tower where the Speaker used to be. Place 8 Visions of Traveler on the small pillars. This will spawn a golden chest in the pool.
- With Mote of Primordial Light, you can now open the chest with the exotic Khvostov 7G-0X. Congrats!
Mote of Light Bug in Destiny 2 Final Shape
Unfortunately, players have encountered a significant issue when trying to obtain the exotic Khvostov in Destiny 2. It seems that when acquiring the 17th Mote of Light from the Servitor boss in The Blooming, there's a chance that all the Motes might disappear instead of providing the Mote of Primordial Light. To avoid losing the opportunity for the exotic Khvostov, don't leave this boss as your final target
