How to upgrade Legendary weapons to Masterwork?
When you find a weapon that suits your style of play and you want to make it a Masterwork you have to prepare for a bit of expenses. The first action that should be performed is to raise the weapon to a maximum 10th Tier.
Weapons found in Destiny 2 may already have a specific Tier, such as The Hand Cannon seen in the image above which was found on the 5th Tier. Therefore, you will need to upgrade it 5 more times to create the Masterwork weapon. To level up your weapon from 1 to 10 Tier in Destiny 2 you will need a certain amount of the following materials:
- Glimmer;
- Legendary Shard;
- Enhancement Core.
The amount of material needed will increase with the level of the item, meaning that if you want to raise the weapon from Tier 7 to 8, then you have to pay much more than leveling in up from Tier 4 to 5.
How to upgrade Exotic weapons to Masterwork?
Unlike regular weapons, which need to be raised from 1st to 10th Tier, and consequently to Masterwork, Exotic weapons require a special item, a Catalyst. Also, you have to perform a specific task before they can be improved. In the image presented below, it can be noted that before Riskrunner weapon can be upgraded to the rank of Masterwork, a certain number of opponents must be eliminated first. Also, you have to take advantage of the additional properties of that weapon in the battle.
Catalysts for Exotic weapons can be found, for example, after completing Nightfall: The Ordeal, for completing a specific mission on the Heroic level, or for winning a certain number of kills in PvE mode.
Masterwork Weapons - what they provide?
By raising your weapon to the rank of Masterwork you will be able to enjoy the benefits of many bonuses and additional features. Each weapon raised to Tier 7 unlocks the next column in the weapon Perks section and receives the stat tracker ability, which counts the number of kills.
In addition to the stat tracker, each Masterwork weapon gets a bonus to one of the random properties - in the image above, you can notice that when you raise the Auto Rifle to Masterwork, you get a range bonus. Furthermore, Masterwork weapons can be additionally modified with special mods which further increase their combat capabilities.
Enhancement Core - how to get it?
Enhancement Core is a crafting item that is essential to level up your favorite weapon to the rank of Masterwork. In Destiny 2 there are many ways to gain Enhancement Cores and among them we can distinguish:
- Dismantling items of at least 4th Tier;
- You can buy them from Spider in Tangled Shore;
- Weekly Bounties from Spider in Tangled Shore;
- Daily Bounties from Banshee-44.
While buying Enhancement Cores from Spider, you need to note that only one per day is available at the price of 10 Legendary Shards. Each subsequent Enhancement Core purchased will cost twice as much.
