Storm class javelin in Anthem Anthem Guide and Walkthrough

Last update: 25 February 2019

On this page of the Anthem game guide, you will find the description of the Storm class. The Storm is one of the four main classes of Javelins (exosuits). From our description, you will be able to learn about the general applications of the Storm class and about the elements of this suit that make it stand out from the rest of the classes.

The description of the Storm class is a work in progress. This section will be expanded in the near future to also include suggested builds for this particular class.

Who is the Storm class for?

The Storm class excels at inflicting powerful, area of effect damage and at imposing negative status effects on enemies - Storm class javelin in Anthem - Javelin Classes - Anthem Guide

The Storm class excels at inflicting powerful, area of effect damage and at imposing negative status effects on enemies.

  1. Playing the Storm class can in many ways resemble playing a mage. Your character can e.g. electrify, burn, and freeze enemies. This will allow you to expose your enemies to your subsequent attacks, or to cooperate with other players and make it easier to execute combo attacks together. When playing Storm, it is easier to perform combo attacks that deal more damage.
  2. Using firearms is of little priority when playing the Storm class. Your main focus will be on using your abilities to the greatest possible effect and on trying to reduce their cooldown periods. You should use weapons mainly when the abilities are cooling down.
  3. The Storm class will allow you to hover in the air for longer. Moreover, when hovering, Storm's kinetic shielt (blue Energy bar) can absorb more damage points. Attacking your foes from such a position is recommended in the vast majority of encounters.
  4. Storm can perform neither the double nor triple jumps. You can, however, perform a farther single jump by holding the jump key (instead of pressing it once).
  5. When playing as Storm, you have to take care of your javelin, as its armor is vulnerable to enemy attacks thus it is easier to die. Dodging is still very much available to you, however, it comes in the form of teleportation over short distances.

What abilities does the Storm class have?

The first group of abilities of the Storm class are focus seals - Storm class javelin in Anthem - Javelin Classes - Anthem Guide

The first group of abilities of the Storm class are focus seals. Depending on your loadout you can, e.g. shoot ice fragments that will freeze enemies, launch fireballs to incinerate targets, or cause a massive electric discharge that will bounce from one enemy to another. Some of these abilities can either be simple single attacks or charged attacks, which will gain more power the longer you prepare for their use.

The second group of abilities of the Storm class are blast seals. In this case, you will also have a choice between multiple elements. The main character can, e.g. summon a powerful lightning strike, cause an ice storm, or create a powerful explosion. These attacks usually effect a selected area rather than a single target.

When playing the Storm class it is a good idea to pick different elements for each of the offensive seals. This way, you can better prepare yourself if an enemy you encounter is resistant to a given element. Additionally, it is a good idea to select one ability that "prepares" the enemy for a combo, and another one allowing you to perform a combo attack on this enemy (more on that in the How to perform a combo? section of this guide).

The third group of abilities of the Storm class are the passive support seals. They have various uses and can, e.g. be used to deflect projectiles fired by enemies or to reduce the cooldowns of your abilities.

The Storm's ultimate ability is the Elemental Storm. (an example of using it in the screenshot above). In fact, this ability divides into three consecutive attacks utilizing different elements - electricity, ice, and fire. You do not have to trigger these one after another - you can take some time in between to correct your aim. This is a very good idea if the enemy is moving or if you want to attack someone else with a different element. This ultimate ability proves useful when attacking single strong enemies (e.g. bosses) as well as bombarding areas with several regular opponents are currently standing. An important thing to note is that Storm javelin becomes temporarily immortal when triggering the ultimate ability.

An example Storm javelin class build

Below, you can find an exemplary build that might prove useful when playing with Storm javelin class. Of course, you can modify it as you please if there is a weapon or an ability that you became very fond of.

Focus Seal - we recommend the Frost Shards allowing you to shoot ten ice projectiles - Storm class javelin in Anthem - Javelin Classes - Anthem Guide

Focus Seal - we recommend the Frost Shards allowing you to shoot ten ice projectiles. This way, you can freeze single, stronger enemies (provided they are not resistant to this element) as well as groups of weaker foes. The Frost Shards ability is marked with a gunpoint icon, so it is one of the abilities allowing you to perform a combo attack on an enemy (more about that in the How to perform a combo? section of this guide).

Blast Seal - we recommend the Lightning Strike ability - Storm class javelin in Anthem - Javelin Classes - Anthem Guide

Blast Seal - we recommend the Lightning Strike ability. It is a single aerial attack that can electrify enemies. The Lightning Strike ability is marked with a star icon, so it is one of the abilities allowing you to perform a combo on a weakened enemy. You should trigger it after you manage to freeze the opponents with the Frost Shards ability.

There is an alternative way of performing combos with Storm. If you can't use the Lightning Strike ability (as it is still loading), you can hit the frozen enemies with the melee attack, as they allow you to mount a combo.

Support Seal - In this case we recommend one of the two abilities - Storm class javelin in Anthem - Javelin Classes - Anthem Guide

Support Seal - In this case we recommend one of the two abilities. Wind Wall allows you to stop projectiles fired by the enemies. You can hide on the other side (also when hovering at a small altitude) and attack opponents in a more convenient way. The second recommended ability is Quickening Field - standing inside this field accelerates abilities' cooldown by 20%. This is a good choice if you have good focusing and blast seals and are willing to use them very often.

Weapons - paradoxically, this is the least important category for the Storm javelin class, as if you select this class, you can do much more with the offensive abilities - Storm class javelin in Anthem - Javelin Classes - Anthem Guide

Weapons - paradoxically, this is the least important category for the Storm javelin class, as if you select this class, you can do much more with the offensive abilities. The game suggests using Marksman Rifle, which proves useful when attacking enemies from long distance. For your secondary weapon, you can choose e.g. the Light Machine Gun or the Assault Rifle that allow you to fire continuously and attack enemies that were able to approach Storm.

Components - you should be most interested in components that increase elemental-based attack efficiency - Storm class javelin in Anthem - Javelin Classes - Anthem Guide

Components - you should be most interested in components that increase elemental-based attack efficiency. For example, Elemental Synergy increases damage dealt by weapons equipped on javelin by 50% at the cost of slower cooldown (by 20%). Elemental Conduit increases elemental damage by 35%, however, it decreases physical damage by 35%. If you strongly depend on attack combinations, we recommend the Storm Combo Augment, which increases the combo chain by 2, allowing you to weaken your enemies more efficiently.

Ultimate ability - You cannot change an ultimate ability, however, you can decide when to use it - Storm class javelin in Anthem - Javelin Classes - Anthem Guide

Ultimate ability - You cannot change an ultimate ability, however, you can decide when to use it. Due to the long cooldown, try leaving it for the boss fights and engaging large groups of opponents. Gain altitude when using ultimate ability to see your opponent(s) well. This will allow you to aim more precisely and make corrections should they move elsewhere. Remember, Storm's Ultimate ability consists of three separate attacks - you do not have to bombard the same area with each attack.

Consumables - The selection of the consumables should be driven by the character of a given mission, nonetheless, there are several generic consumables that you can select no matter what mission do you want to complete - Storm class javelin in Anthem - Javelin Classes - Anthem Guide

Consumables - The selection of the consumables should be driven by the character of a given mission, nonetheless, there are several generic consumables that you can select no matter what mission do you want to complete. Combo Sigil increases combo reaction damage by 10%. This proves useful if, as mentioned above, you want to depend on frequent attack combinations. Gear Sigil accelerated cooldown of all abilities by 10% - this is an extremely important bonus to Storm class. Ultimate Sigil increases damage dealt by Ultimate class by 10%. This consumable is worth selecting for missions during which you have to fight bosses. You should not have any problems with killing regular opponents even with standard amount of damage you deal.
