Crafting materials in Anthem Anthem Guide and Walkthrough

Last update: 22 February 2019

In Anthem, to craft items (upgrades and weapons) you need crafting materials / resources. You often get them on the fly, e.g. during a mission. You can also purchase them with coins - we don't recommend this solution; coins are rather valuable, and the crafting materials are expensive. You can get them easier during the Freeplay mode.

Types of crafting materials

Here you can find a list of the basic crafting materials - the easiest way to collect them is to play in the Freeplay mode:

Chimeric alloy (plants) - the game is full of weird-looking flowers and plants; each one of them will give you a few units of this resource.

Chimeric Compound (minerals) - you can find them in caves or near rocky edges separating areas in the Freeplay mode. Tall red-black crystals are the most common.

Weapon parts - they are usually in enemy bases in the Freeplay mode.

Javelin parts - in the beginning, Javelin parts may be difficult to find because they are very rare. Sometimes, you can find them along weapon parts. These parts are usually found in various sections of the map - look for damaged Javelins (they look like junk from the distance). These parts are usually near enemy camps. However, the best way to get them is to dismantle items that are useless to you. These parts aren't universal - a Colossus-type Javelin needs parts made specifically for this type of armor. Luckily, the game gives you parts for different Javelin classes.

Ember.

Ember - you need this material to craft high-level items (those with outlines in various colors). Later, you will need Embers for every item you craft. Each item tier requires different Embers. The higher the tier, the more difficult it is to find the required number of Embers. These materials are often collected by accident - from chests, or when you are collecting other resources. The best method to get Embers is to dismantle items - do that with items of the same tier as the item you want to craft.

Masterwork Ember is the most difficult to obtain. Usually, you get it by completing monthly trials and by looting chests found at the later stages of the game (around levels 20-30). This material allows you to craft unique weapons that have 4 bonuses.

How to get crafting materials fast?

You dont have to approach every flower and press the action button - Crafting materials in Anthem - Crafting - Anthem Guide

You don't have to approach every flower and press the action button. Shoot it, land from a great distance, or hit with a melee attack to destroy a deposit. You will get materials faster.

  • Some of the Challenges will give you a lot of materials.

Vault and dismantling

You can keep up to 250 items (upgrades and weapons) in your vault - Crafting materials in Anthem - Crafting - Anthem Guide

You can keep up to 250 items (upgrades and weapons) in your vault. When you exceed that limit, you won't be able to go on an expedition until you have free space. To dismantle items, hold the RMB. Usually, dismantling gives you two random materials - their quantity is 1/5 of the price you would have to pay for crafting them.
