Is it possible to defeat the Titan alone in Anthem? Anthem Guide and Walkthrough
Last update: 08 March 2019
Is it possible to defeat the Titan alone? Definitely yes, and it does not have to be that difficult. Titans are often bosses in story missions, but you can also encounter them during Freeplay (though these are "lesser Titans"). Colossus is the best javelin for this fight, not only because of the large amount of health points but also because of the shield that protects you nearly from each one of Titan's attacks (apart from Fire rings).
The key to victory lies in fighting from medium and large distance. Hit the opponent with your strongest attacks when he begins his attack sequence. Depending on the attack type, you have to hit the right target: most often these are his hands, sometimes back and chest. You will know what to attack: this particular body part will start burning. There is not much time to deal damage, thus select weapons that deal much damage and have high rate of fire. Moreover - upon dealing a significant amount of damage (app. 1/3 of his health bar and onward), you will see ammunition and health kits appearing below the enemy.
Also important is the proper defense. Titans mount several attacks:
- Energy Beams - a beam shooting out of Titan's chest. Find cover to avoid being hit.
- Fire Rings - The Titan send fire rings dispersing away from him. These rings can penetrate different structures - they hurt you and overheat the rocket packs. In order to avoid them, jump at the right moment above the rings or rise into the air (maintain the high ground throughout the entire fight).
- Energy Spheres - spheres of fire emerge from Titan's body (as many spheres as there are players in your squad) and automatically follow each player. Find cover or use the Colossus' shield to defend from this attack.
- Explosions - this attack occurs most often when you are standing at high altitude or when you are behind cover. Your current location begins to light up to end up with powerful explosion after 3 seconds It is enough to dodge, but you have to do that as soon as you notice the light below you.
- Summon adds - the attack of larger Titans. They summon waves of adds that rush towards players only to explode upon getting near them. Colossus' shield will protect him from these attacks.
- In addition, after losing almost the entire health belt, the Titan may enter a fury mode and start firing the attacks described above at a much higher frequency. If this happens, move away from the Titan and take cover. The monster should die in a powerful explosion after some time, and you will not have to finish it.
