This section of the Anthem guide contains the walkthroughs for side missions (Agent missions) for Arcanists. Aside from standard rewards, completing these missions will allow you to get loyalty points for this faction.

How to unlock new missions for Arcanists?

You can find the Arcanist station in the central part of Fort Tarsis - Arcanists | Anthem Agent Missions Walkthrough - Agent Missions - Anthem Guide

You can find the Arcanist station in the central part of Fort Tarsis. Matthias is the person to visit when it comes to new missions or contracts. Each time you return to the fort, check if there is a head or a contract icon on the map. Both these markers inform you of the ability to begin a new side quest for Arcanists.

Next to Matthias, there is a computer that you can use to check the current level of loyalty to Arcanists. The topic is described in detail at Reputation and factions section in our guide.

The first task for Arcanist cannot be missed, as taking care of it is a part of a mission known as Lending a Hand. Meet with Matthias in Fort Tarsis. They will ask you to investigate a location connected to Elysian Manuscript. Begin the expedition.

Fly to the research location. Here, you need to take care of a group of Wolven. The best way to approach is to attack them from air, which will lower the chance of you receiving damage or getting freezed.

Once the area has been cleared, search for the interactive device known as Arcanist Marker. You need to find and deliver 12 echo. As a reminder, echos are levitating objects that start to follow the hero after he gets close enough to them.

While searching for echos, you'll need to access some of the cages to reach them. Open the cages for echos to "attach" to javelin. Moreover, you'll need to defeat another group of bandits and scorpions (attack them while airborne) along with their leader.

Reach the area with the second marker. This time, you'll be asked to find 6 runes. An exemplary rune is shown by the screenshot - you need to approach them and hold the interaction button.

Locating and checking all runes will end the expedition. Give the report to Matthias after returning to Fort Tarsis.

Contract: Arcanist Runes

This contract can be picked-up from the map found at the Arcanist location (not after talking to Matthias). Contracts do not place much emphasis on plot. Their objectives are randomly generated, so replaying the same contract (e.g. during a session of a different player) may yield different objectives. The received task may involve e.g. repairing damaged Arcanist devices or finding runes using the radar.

Hidden Depths

Matthias will give you a mission to locate runes that may lead to Elysian Manuscript. Begin the expedition. You need to perform a longer flight concluded with reaching the location with runes. This area contains 6 runes - while exploring, watch out for predators. You can find the next runes thanks to the radar.

Once you "scan" all of the runes, travel to the next area. This area contains 5 runes. Once again, watch out for predators, especially that you may encounter a legendary one.

You can now travel to the location which was found thanks to the clues from the runes. Reach the Arcanist Marker and activate it. You need to stay in the green area and eliminate incoming scorpions. The monsters can be attacked while in air, but you can't leave the green area.

You can now travel to the manuscript chamber. You need to dive and swim underwater to reach the secret area. Once you leave the water find the pathway to the dungeon, known as The Vault.

Begin the exploration of the dungeon. When you reach the bigger room, you need to get rid of all scorpions found in the area.

The cave contains a symbol puzzle. It is very simple, as the right symbols are found on nearby walls. These are shown by the screenshots above - your game may display different ones. The best way is to check them personally and set the right symbols using the help from the pictures.

Completing the puzzle unlocks a new pathway. Continue following it until you reach a large cave where respawn blockade will appear.

The final part of the said mission sees you defeat Titan. Use the fact that you are fighting in a large room. You can hide from his attacks using walls or rocks, as well as fly high in the air so that you don't have to jump over radiation waves.

Similarly to other Titan encounters, the area will be inhabited by elementals - avoid them or eliminate if they pose a problem.

Once the titan is defeated, pick up the leftover loot. The expedition has not ended yet, as you are left with a new symbol puzzle. Same as in the case of the previous puzzle, look around the rotating mechanisms for symbols found on the walls.

Completing both these puzzles will unlock a large chest containing Elysian Manuscript. The expedition will end. Talk to Matthias after returning to the Fort to talk about this important find.

Elysian Secrets

To begin this mission, talk to Erryl (one of the characters that appeared after "dividing" Matthias). The mission involves discovering Raban Maur's secrets. Begin the expedition and fly to the marked location. The new area is populated by Wolven (watch out - there may be legendary units among them).

After combat listen to the conversation with Erryl and investigate the pillars. You need to complete another symbol puzzle. Fortunately, it is very simple - the right symbol is right before you. Set it up and then set the left one through trial and error.

You need to deliver next three spheres the same way. Each time, the action is begun by completing one of the symbol puzzles. Always look around the area in search of one or two symbols to input. Then, you need to wait in the green circle and deliver the sphere. Expect incoming scorpions after delivering each sphere.

Some problems may arise during the puzzle shown in the screenshot above. Interact with any of the two pedestals. Rotate the left symbols until you encounter one that is visible on the large board. Look at the board once again and choose the right symbol which neighbors the already set left one.

Once you deliver all four spheres, you can interact with the Monolith. Once again, you need to defend inside the green circle. Expect Wolven and Brutes (you'll encounter at least one legendary Brute). A good way of surviving the battle is fighting the opponents from air (provided the given Javelin allows that).

Once the progress bar is filled in full, defeat the remaining monsters, and open the chest to retrieve the scrolls. The expedition will end soon. Once you're back at the Fort, talk to Erryl.

Ancient Footsteps

This mission is given to you by Sumner (another Matthias' clone). You'll be asked to follow the footsteps of Raban Maur in order to discover his secrets. Begin the expedition and reach the first ruin. Once you reach the location, find 5 runes. The most problematic one is the one hidden by plants (screenshot above).

Once you locate all of the runes, travel to the second ruins. Here, you need to find 6 runes. Finding all of them can be difficult. Make sure to check all levels. Moreover, two runes are hidden behind eggs that you need to destroy (shown in the screenshot above).

Travel to the pathway leading to The Bane Engine. Reach a large hall that contains scorpions - you don't need to eliminate them all.

Check the object in the center to learn of the necessity to attune the vault. You have a minute to locate 8 green spheres and fly through them. An exemplary sphere is shown in the screenshot above. During the attunement quest, ignore monsters and focus on the task. If you having problems finding the spheres, fly high in the air and look around - you'll have an easier time finding the spheres. Nevertheless, some spheres can be hidden e.g. between walls or in small rooms. Fortunately, even if you fail the quest, you'll be able to repeat it without problems. The spheres will appear in the same locations, so you can focus on finding the missing ones while having additional time to search for them.

Return to the vault and interact with it. Now you need to defend yourself while staying in the green circle until the progress bar is filled in full. You'll encounter many scorpions - make use of area of effect attacks. Once the vault is attuned, you can open it. Pick-up the loot (the room also contains at least one smaller loot chest) and return to the surface.

Begin travelling in the direction of the marked Strider. Once you reach the location, a respawn block will appear, and you'll encounter outlaws. Watch out for stronger Outlaw Elementalists, which should be taken care of first (start by destroying their shields).

Once the battle is won, search for a battery nearby the damaged Strider. Climb with it to the roof and place it in a large slot. The expedition will end soon.

Contract: Archive Hunt

Another contract available at the Arcanist map, and similarly to the previous one, it has randomly generated mission objectives. You may be asked e.g. to clear a large group of Scars or to pick up relict fragments.

Tell Me Maur

The mission involves tracking the person responsible for the attack on Strider and taking the archive of Raban Maur. Begin a new expedition and travel to the outlaw camp. Getting rid of them all shouldn't pose a problem, but the camp may contain e.g. a legendary Enforcer.

Once the battle is concluded, you need to search the camp for two clues. You'll be guided to each one by the radar.

Travel to the new location inhabited by the outlaws. Continue the fight, this time watching out for e.g. new elementalists. Once the battle is won, locate the dead Arcanists and pick up a recording.

Listen to the recording and follow the new clue which will lead to you to a new location. You'll once again be attacked by the outlaws. Once you clear them out, start following your radar to reach the living Arcanists and save them.

Talk to the Arcanists, and proceed to the outlaw camp. Once you reach the base area, you'll receive two objectives. Start with destroying Outlaw Turrets, then proceed to the equipment crates and destroy them using melee attacks or a weapon dealing a lot of damage (e.g. shotgun).

Once you destroy all objects in the outlaw base, a mini-boss (Mysterious Figure) will appear. Focus on destroying the shields of this quite powerful opponent. Once the shield is down, fire up your most powerful attacks, as the opponent yellow bar is much more durable.

Clear out the area and find the crates with new clues. You don't need to travel anywhere, as the expedition will end soon. Once you're back at Fort Tarsis, talk to Sumner.

Secrets of the Auspex

This mission becomes available after you complete the main storyline. Matthias asks you to find Auspex, the titular artifact, before it gets in the enemies' hands. Start an expedition and then move to the place marked on the map. If you want to, you can eliminate the Wyverns flaying here. Install the beacon.

Respawns are blocked. Stand in the green zone and defend yourself from Brutes. Remember, you can hover in the air without interrupting the progress bar. You can also try to, e.g. freeze a few enemies in one spot (provided that you have freeze attacks).

The next objective is to find and deliver 8 Echoes. Besides more Brutes (regular, elite and legendary versions), you will also face elementals (they explode upon contact) and energy spheres. Avoid overheating your Javelin - if you do that, you won't be able to fly to the Echoes for a certain period of time.

Deliver all the Echoes and wait for Auspex artifact to spawn. Pick it up. You now have to walk a bit. Remember, you can't fly while you are carrying the artifact. Luckily, you still can, e.g. use long jump.

You will come across various enemies, including elite and legendary versions. You don't have to fight them. If you play with other players, they can focus enemies' attention on themselves.

Take the artifact to the ruins. Secure the area and then place Auspex on the ground in the spot marked by the game. Stay inside the green circle. Watch out, respawns are unavailable here.

Try to move around inside the circle. Eliminate elementals from a distance - these enemies explode upon contact. Once the bar is full, wait a moment and then pick Auspex up.

Go to the shallow water body. Place Auspex on the pedestal. This triggers another battle. The game will also block the option to respawn.

You don't have to stand near the artifact - you can move around the entire location. We recommend doing that when you get attacked by a large group of stronger enemies. Attack them from a distance. You are accompanied by allies controlled by AI. You can revive them, but this isn't necessary to complete this objective. Later, you will be attacked by even more powerful enemies. Destroy their Hives.

The final objective is to defeat a mini-boss - Symposium Agent. The enemy has a shield which means that you have to destroy it first before you are able to deal any damage.

Defeat the Symposium Agent to end the battle. Defeat this enemy as fast as possible - if you do that, you won't have to deal with other enemies. Meet the "trio" in Fort Tarsis to end the mission. You also learn more about Auspex.

Arcanist contracts

Contracts, side missions that you can do in-between the story missions or after you are done with all Agent Mission, appear on the notice board near the Arcanist's kiosk. You don't get these missions from Matthias.

Contracts don't focus on story. They have random objectives meaning that two contracts with the same name can be completely different. They may require you to, e.g. repair the Arcanists' devices, find ancient ruins, rescue Arcanists or complete certain actions to open a vault.

After you complete the game, you can get both standard and legendary contracts. Legendary versions are a bit more complex (e.g. you may be required to complete a series of battles with legendary enemies or mini-bosses). However, these contracts will reward you with better loot.
