Consumables in Anthem Anthem Guide and Walkthrough

In Anthem, consumables give you a temporary boost for your Javelin. Check this page to learn how to use consumables, how to set them as active and when it is best to use them.
Unlocking consumables
Consumables aren't available from the start. You need to reach level 10 to access them.
How to set consumables as active?
You can set consumables in the window where you prepare for an expedition (picture 1). Don't start an expedition immediately. Instead, go to the last tab (picture 2). At first, you will be able to use only one consumable. The next two slots are unlocked at levels 20 and 30.
Every consumable is a single-use item. It will be active only during the next expedition. After that, it disappears from your inventory. You can use this slot (or slots) for another consumable. We don't recommend taking high-quality consumables on easy missions or when you are playing on the easy difficulty. Consumables must be crafted (more about that below) - using these items can be less profitable than the rewards you can get from their stat bonuses. The best moment to start using consumables is when you reach level 30 during the endgame part of the game.
How to get consumables?
You don't receive consumables as loot, e.g. during missions. You need to craft them yourself - do that by opening the CRAFT tab.
You can get consumables as a loot. However, the game also has the option to craft them (go to the CRAFT tab).
Your choice of consumables should be determined by your Javelin's class and preferred style. Versatile consumables that can be used by every class:
- Ultimate Sigil - Increases damage done with the Ultimate skill by 10%. This consumable can be very useful in missions where you have to defeat powerful bosses (enemies that won't die from a single Ultimate).
- Shield Sigil - Increases shield resistance by 10% and speeds up shield recovery by 10%. Choose this consumable if you are about to start a mission with multiple elite enemies. You can combine this consumable with Armor Sigil (increases armor).
- Gear Sigil - Increases abilities' cooldown by 10%. This consumable will allow you to use offensive and defensive skills faster.
- Combo Sigil - Increases combo damage by 10%. Combo attacks are already powerful. This consumable will make them even more devastating.
The stat bonus depends on the quality of a given consumable. For example, an Uncommon consumable can give you a 10% bonus while a Rare item will give you 15 or 20%. You can choose the quality of a given consumable during the crafting process (provided that you have unlocked it).
Increase your reputation in the Arcanist faction to get access to blueprints for more powerful consumables. By reaching new reputation levels, you will get access to Uncommon, Rare, and Epic sigil blueprints. More about the reputation system can be found on one of the pages of this guide.
