Last update: 21 February 2019
Yes, Anthem has microtransactions. This section of the guide informs you what kind of items can be bought for real money.
In Anthem, the microtransactions system only involves cosmetic items. There is no possibility of spending real money on things that make the character stronger or help him advance to new experience levels.
The real money can be spent on Shards, which are one of two currencies in game. Shards can be spent on new visual elements for your javelin. These may involve a different looking armor or unique stickers and materials that cover the javelin.
Aside from Shards, you can spend Coins (the second currency) to buy the same cosmetic items. Coins are the main currency in game. As shown in the screenshot above, you can spend 61000 coins or 850 shards to buy any of the unique-looking armors. Coins are awarded for your progress in game, e.g. by completing challenges or missions. As a result, you can amass coins for any cosmetic items without spending real money.
Anthem does not contain any lootboxes. Loot is not subject to rolls, it is automatically awarded after the end of the expedition
