Last update: 17 September 2024
Partners is the second mission in the Tatooine storyline. After recruiting Hoss, you'll head to Mos Eisley, where an unpleasant event will force you to infiltrate Jabba's palace. You won't have access to Nix for most of this mission, which will make the stealth segments much more difficult. On this guide page we describe how to get to Jabba's palace, infiltrate it, rescue Nix and escape in one piece.
- Meeting with Hoss and reaching Jabba's palace
- Infiltrating Jabba's palace
- Finding Nix in the menagerie
- Escaping from the palace
- Fighting the rancor
Meeting with Hoss and reaching Jabba's palace
Hoss is waiting for you in the cantina in Mos Eisley. The meeting with him will end very unpleasantly - Nix will be kidnapped and taken to Jabba's palace. Kay will go there to save her friend.
The path to the palace leads through a small cave. Follow this path until you reach a crevice blocking the path ahead. Squeeze through it, leaving the vehicle behind.
After a short, linear climb, you will arrive in front of Jabba's palace. Now you need to get inside. You have two options - you can use stealth or just shoot everyone. This shouldn't be too demanding - the enemies are very spread out, stand alone, and often turn their backs on you. Even if you get into a firefight, the enemies standing a little further away won't be alarmed.
Alternatively, you can also avoid almost all enemies by hanging from the stone bridges. This path will allow you to get through almost the entire segment without fighting.
After making your way through the enemies and reaching the tower wall, use the grappling hook to pull yourself up to enter Jabba's palace.
Infiltrating Jabba's palace
When infiltrating, you must sneak - if the enemies sound the alarm, the mission will immediately end in failure. You don't have Nix with you, which makes this part much more difficult - you can't use him to distract enemies or detect their position. The enemies wielding halberds are elite - you can't eliminate them with stealth takedowns (unless you've already acquired the Electro-Shock Prod). They also wear armor and you can only hurt them by shooting them in the head. A stun blaster shot won't be enough to get rid of them either, so it's best to avoid them.
Even if you are spotted, you have a chance to escape unscathed - the mission failure happens when you raise the alarm, not get detected. If the guards spot you, shoot them and prioritize enemies planning to trigger the alarm - you'll recognize them by the alarm indicator above their head. Elite enemies can only attack with melee attacks - shoot them in the head while moving away from them and dodging their axes. The explosive blaster module is perfect for them.
Go down the stairs, but be careful - at some point you'll encounter a guard. Wait until he turns around and move on.
At the very bottom of the staircase, go through the ventilation shaft. You will exit it in a room with a regular guard with his back turned to you - take him out.
An elite guard is patrolling the next corridor. Follow him as he walks to the other end of the corridor. There's a box halfway through the room - climb onto it, then grab onto the bar just below the ceiling. Hang down and wait for the guard to turn around and pass you, then let go and head to the end of the corridor.
At the end of the next corridor is an enemy who is invisible from this angle without Nix's sense - if he spots you, quickly take him out in melee before he alerts the other enemies.
There's an elite guard on the staircase in front of you - you can either fight the guard to get the crafting materials at the top of the stairs or go to the blue-lit room next door and use the grappling hook to go further.
Wait until the guard leaves the room. You can now hack the computer to open the door at the bottom of the room and hang from the edge of the catwalk to drop down. Behind the door you'll find some loot - when you're ready, return to the catwalk and follow the guard.
The next room is filled with guards. There's another vent along the right wall - it'll take you to the other end of the room, right in front of a closed door you need to open.
Finding Nix in the menagerie
You are right in front of the menagerie where Nix is being held. One of the guards has a card that opens the next door - since you don't have Nix with you, you can't steal it. You need to get rid of him - wait until most of the guards have left the room and then move on to eliminate the one guard that remains.
Be careful, as other enemies can spot you through the bars in the middle of the corridor and from the next room. You can use the ventilation shaft to the left of the grate to go to the very end of the corridor, straight to the guard carrying the card. Get rid of him, take the card and go back to the beginning of the corridor to open the locked door and proceed further.
Go through the vent until you reach the kitchen. Keep going - when you come across a closed door, pull the lever next to it to open it. A moment later, you will have the final stealth section of this mission.
On the left side of the corridor there is another lever with a guard walking next to it. When sneaking behind cover, wait until he moves away a bit - when his back is turned, walk up to the lever and pull it, then retreat behind cover.
The lever will open the cell a little further on, on the right side of the corridor - continue crouching behind the covers, sneak up to it and go inside.
Go through the newly opened room to the very end of the corridor - be careful as you approach the end, as an elite guard may be patrolling nearby. The exit door requires a keycard, which can be found behind the small orange door across from you.
Eventually, you will come to the menagerie where Nix is being held. This is where your good luck will end - you will be surprised by several guards. Fight them and remember to aim for the heads of the enemies wielding halberds. The explosive blaster module is a good choice for this fight. After the first wave of enemies, Jabba's trainer will enter the room with two animals - if you shoot her with an explosive shot right after she appears, you can kill all enemies with one shot.
After defeating the enemies, go to the cage near the door and free Nix, then exit through the door the trainer entered earlier. Watch the cut-scene.
Escaping from the palace
After the cut-scene, you'll team up with Vail to escape Jabba's palace. Get rid of the animals attacking you, then open the door at the end of the room.
You must fight your way out of the palace. Shoot the guards while moving forward and using cover. Before exiting the next room, collect the rifle from the rack right by the door.
Use the concrete walls connecting parts of the corridor as cover and eliminate the guards as they come. Eventually, you will reach the hangar via a linear path, where an unpleasant surprise awaits you.
Fighting the rancor
The fight with the rancor is one of the few boss fights in the game and we have described it on a separate page of the guide. After defeating the beast the quest will end.
