Star Wars: Outlaws is an open-world action-adventure game set in the Star Wars universe. The game was developed by Ubisoft Massive studio and is one of the first projects under the Star Wars license from 2013, not published by Electronic Arts.
Main characters and story in SW Outlaws
The action of Star Wars: Outlaws is set between the events shown in the films The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, being the fifth and sixth part of the cinematic saga. The creators picked this period in the history of the Star Wars universe, as it was a moment of true flourishing of the underworld. The Rebellion had not yet managed to consolidate its position, and under the nose of the powerful Empire, criminal syndicates arose, led by Pyke and the Hutts, who managed perfectly to exploit the weaknesses of the system.
The main character is a smuggler named Kay Vess (played by Humberly Gonzalez). We can follow her transformation from an inexperienced girl into a woman respected by the entire criminal underworld. Thanks to her skills, the protagonist quickly becomes one of the key characters of the underground and she is forced to work with various factions. During the adventures that throw her into various corners of a distant galaxy, she has her faithful friends to rely on - a furry Nix and a rebellious droid ND-5.
Gameplay
In Star Wars: Outlaws we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP). The driving force of the game are quests pushing the plot forward, accompanied by various side missions and activities. While completing them, from time to time we have to make decisions which may have various consequences for the heroine and her companions. The missions in the game include infiltrating secret locations and stealing valuable items from them, which can fetch a fortune on the black market.
In their implementation, we are often hindered by opponents with whom we engage in dynamic battles, using mainly the blaster. The weapon has different modules and firing modes. Since adversaries usually have a numerical advantage over us, it is often better to act stealthy rather than have a frontal attack. It will allow us to eliminate enemies by surprise. The presence of Nix also encourages a more tactical approach to problem solving. Our animal companion can distract enemies, sabotage alarms or fetch weapons.
We can explore open maps on individual planets on foot or using a fast and agile speeder. In addition, the game allows us to control the heroine's spaceship – the Trailblazer. Sitting at its helm, we traverse interplanetary space, where we also engage in dynamic skirmishes. Our ship can also jump into hyperspace and it's used to cover vast distances in a fraction of a second.
